I am one of those who generally does not adhere to what my doctors prescribe.
After trying many prescript
ion medications over the years and my rheumatologist telling me that, yes, I am medication sensitive, sometimes I will fill a prescript
ion and try it but most times not. This is what conventional doctors do, this is the only thing besides making a diagnosis--they feel they can do to help their patients. Personally, I feel doctors over prescribe prescript
ion meds.
My rheumatologist has told me most people with fibromyalgia are medication sensitive.
How many times have we listened to television advertisements about
a prescript
ion med and they tell us the many side effects we could experience…. These sound much worse than what the medication is being prescribed for.
I am one of those who will quit a med after several days of being on it because I recognize I am experiencing side effects. So I do all that I can to overcome my health condition naturally. And this works for me. I am not healed but I feel better for doing it through healthy eating, stretching, gentle exercise, and natural supplements.
There were times that I called my doctor to tell him or her about
my side effects and to ask what I should do. It seemed to take forever for their office to get back to me and when they did I was told to stay on it longer. When this didn't work I was advised to take another med. Only if need be, I no longer play medication roulette.
And unless my condition is serious--this is when I feel I need to follow my doctor's instructions.
