Were you breastfed?

Hi Everyone,

I know this is a strange topic but it's been making me wonder lately.

I was not breastfed. I believe my sisters and I were given cow's milk. But, lately, I've been hearing a lot about how being breastfed is a really good start to boosting our immune systems which can help prevent disease in our future even the common cold.

And it's said that cow's milk isn't good for us. I've heard that hormones are injected into cows that are not meant for human consumption.

Over the years, when I became smart enough to know better, I realized eating healthy and taking a few natural supplements prevented me from getting sick. I haven't had a cold in many years. It's too difficult having fibro symptoms plus dealing with a cold!

I'd love to know what you think.

I wasn't breastfed as a baby. I had special soy formula because I had problems with the regular kind. Have been drinking cow's milk ever since. I also couldn't breastfeed either one of my kids. My milk just wouldn't come in. One of them had to be on Soy and the other was able to use regular formula. I am the only one (so far) in my immediate family with Fibro. My sister-in-law also had it, but she wasn't blood related to me.

Not breastfed , but was fed formula. My brother was given cow's milk.

Well, I was only breast-fed for a few weeks, and sporadically at that. I was a borderline preemie, lots of digestive issues (some things never change ;(

But I breast-fed each of my 3 kids for a year, believing it was best for them (which I still believe) and would keep them from getting colds so much - ha! I used to joke at the pediatrician's office that we should all just move in there to save time and bother....they were all on Amoxicillin half the time, it seemed.

My youngest had to have tubes in her ears. She's 26 and has chronically plugged-up sinuses and enlarged nasal turbinates, so mouth-breathes a lot. Lots of problems there.

My other daughter seems to have a low threshold for catching colds and sore throats.

Of course, that was before they knew how bad it was to be on all those antibiotics (I was on them, too.) But that's another issue....

Not breastfed,

Did with my kids who were both allergic to milk...my kids would spit up regular formula, so were changed to a soy formula..i only breastfed for the first month or so.

I avoid milk because of the hormones in it...never got into the organic..use a little in recipes..

Sorry MedFree, I have been off-line for a few days. She would spit-up constantly to the point of becoming dehydrated. We tried about four different formulas before finally finding the one that worked for her. I do not remember what it was called, but I remember it was very expensive. I was so happy that I didn't have to use that for the second one
