Hi Purple, My experience is that mediation is changing my fibro life. I'm a Christian and have a good "prayer life". However, mediation takes prayer to a different level and has the potential (I know everyone is different) to dramatically change your life.
I'm almost 53, male, type-a, and never believed any of this this "meditation crap". But, due to my my constant pain, I've had to dig into meditation and now practice it daily. I've only been doing this for a few months now, but the difference is significant. The "fatigue" part of fibro is mostly gone, and I've cut back my Lyrica dose. The pain is decreasing and I can now "feel" those things in life that cause certain fibro symptoms.
I cannot follow all the rules (e.g., I mediate either fully or partially reclined), but who cares if it helps. I do understand that the concept is difficult for some. My wife won't meditate and says she "prays" instead, etc., but hey she isn't in constant pain like I am.
Anyway, enough about that. There are many great books on meditation, and I'm sure Christian ones too so no need to mention the ones that have helped me unless someone really wants to know.
