Hoofie. Hi. Sorry I am a such a slow responder to your thread. Yeah its more contributers at menopause. I found it especially difficult because as the ovaries were not to be helping anymore with the 3 sex hormones, I was heading deeper and deeper into adrenal insufficiencies as well. Or maybe I was low in hormones before but the consequences are higher when the ovaries aren't helping. I eventually got very low in cortisol. But it's not uncommon in fibro or CFS....that happens at all ages.
Anyways, Progesterone turns out to be the precursor to cortisol and cortisol "clocking" is darn handy for the sleep schedule, and it helps with low blood sugar....like during the fast when you are sleeping, and it helps pain. Cortisol is anti-inflammatory...one fibro study says that having higher morning pain can be one symptom of hypocortisolism in fibro patients. (study by McLean et al..with Clauw)
And then eventually I was dizzy when standing. For all the bad press cortisol gets, you sure want to have enuff of it.
