Unfortunately, I'm an old hand at dealing with asthma and allergies, including hives. Are you taking any medications? You can develop an allergy to a medication even if you've been taking it awhile. It's also "allergy season," and there are a ton of things floating around out there that can trigger a reaction. Have you tried an antihistamine? And since hives can (can be, not always) serious, it's probably a good idea to call your GP.
In the meantime, you might try keeping a food diary. It could be something new you are eating, but it's possible to develop a new reaction to a food you've been eating all your life.
Hives can also be caused by auto-immune issues or problems with your thyroid, so that's another good reason to see your doctor.
Hives can be triggered by stress. They can be triggered by heat or exercise, too, and sometimes docs don't know what causes them and the focus is on treating the symptoms.
It can be quite miserable, I know. And it's often a process to figure out the cause. I went through a bout that we never did identify the trigger. I also have dermatographia, and a scratch or pressure will trigger an itchy hive like reaction on my skin. It can be maddening.
Chronic hives aren't usually life threatening, but if you have issues like shortness of breath, mouth swelling, dizziness, or rapid heartbeat with them you probably need to seek medical help quickly.
Is it related to fibro? I don't think anyone can say for sure. Fibromites seem to have a lot of "unrelated" health issues. It does sometimes make me wonder if all of my issues have some kind of relation somewhere down the genetic line.
