Does anyone else experience the hips as being the where the fibro settles, and I have to use a walker to walk. I `also have it in my elbows wrists, fingers. feet constant pain even with taking pain pills. I also have depression and anxiety. I'm taking the max amount of xanax person can take. On wellbutrin and citilapralm for depression. I just don't understand why the hips?????..Thanks

Just got back from my MD appointment. He says I have lupus too, and gave 10mg of methadone to take at night, because I am not sleeping pain is over whelming a..Thanks for listening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, Sugaree, and welcome. You can have fibro and lupus. One of our members has both. I have fibro, ankylosing spondylitis which is like rheumatoid arthritis of the spine, and also sacroiliitis and that affects my hips and legs. Not everything is caused by fibro so it's good to get thoroughly checked out.

What did your doctor say was causing the hip pain?

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.

Hello, I have hip pain too. And I know it can be debilitating. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and SI joint dysfunction. I have been bedridden many times due to the hip, tailbone and pelvic pain.

So far I'm on a better track now. My stress level is down, I've added new medication called Gabapentin (this helps with the nerve pain ), I still take oxy for pain but it works better with the Gabapentin .

I've added apple cider vinegar to my diet and this helps with pain and energy levels. It's taken me about a year to get more mobile and now I use a "SI joint belt" when exercising , mopping, walking). Sometimes when my hips are hurting I just put the belt on whenever.

I'm not pain free but I'm alot better than a year ago, bed ridden. Maybe you can try some of these in the future. If not, I hope you can find something else that helps you.

I tried lyrica but it didnt help my pain, Gabapentin worked better for me. You mentioned Xanax , have you tried a different nerve med?

Oh, I forgot to mention that I take amitriptyline at night for sleep.

I have lupus and fibromyalgia (among other things).

Are you a photosensitive too? Check us out in the lupus forum for tips on the lupus.

Most of us do have more than one issue..

I kept ending up in therapy with my hips locking up..

Then i learned that i had trigger point pains in the hip..i learned to release these myself, so i do not need a therapist to do this anymore...

Once these points locked up..i would wait sometimes up to three weeks in that tight pain..before i could start the therapy..

Now when it begins to get tight and painful..i can do trigger point releases and loosen up in minutes..that is empowering. It took me a long time to be able to figure that all out.

We have to be in a constant learning session to help ourselves and get the help we need..

There is a trigger point handbook that really helps with this kind of pain..

Have you ever had therapy for your hips? Lj

One of my therapists also had me learn a s l joint repositioning exercise.
