I have done a lot of reading about
cymbalta withdrawal since I have been taking it since October. The generic name is duloxetine, as my doctor discussed, but he didn't say, "cymbalta", for some reason.
I practically ran out of the dr. office to the pharmacy ready to try anything because the pain, fatigue were becoming so unbearable. I noticed immense relief (and energy) the next day. After awakening, I came downstairs, chatty with my mom, who was astounded. I proceeded to clean house that afternoon thinking, wow, this is great. The following Saturday, I worked my 3 hours that morning (teaching damce-which I am usually bed bound afterwards), went shopping for 3 hours, came home and cooked dinner. Ithen i called and talked to friends for 2 hours on the phone. I haven't felt capable of all that for years!
The suicidal thoughts were gone because I finally had hope that I could cope and function. I'm not 100%, but at a place where I feel I can get my life back. So in a sense I credit cymbalta (and my dr.) for saving my life.
If I had read all the stuff about
"Cymbalta" before taking it, I probably wouldn't have tried it.
I'm using the the information about
withdrawal issues to create a plan with my dr and therapist in case I do have to go off of it: a taper down schedule of at least 6 months, along with another med as a taper up.
Just sharing my story. It is good to stay informed of all sides.
