Hi. My name is Michele. I am 48 years old and I am a stay-at home Mom on disability. I was diagnosed with fibromyagi a few years ago. I also have a list of other chronic conditions, but fibro is my hardest one to handle. I look forward to meeting new people to get support and to help support others.

Hi, Michele, and welcome! I have a list of chronic illnesses too and several of them cause pain along with fibro. But, I have lived a full and enjoyable life in spite of this. Once you find what helps you deal with the discomfort, you will be well on your way to a better life.

What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another with fibro. It's a trial and error type thing but you will get many great ideas on this forum.

I use ibuprofen with food, Tylenol, magnesium malate, vitamin D3, and a muscle relaxer called Robaxin that has made a significant difference in my pain. I also walk daily as a gentle form of exercize and I pace myself when doing things. I do Trigger Point Therapy on myself when necessary and I also get a gentle massage once a month. I also am a positive thinker. This has helped me almost as much as medication and i'm a happier person even though I have several chronic illnesses. All of the above helps me live a pretty "normal" life.

Do read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are good links about fibro and you will learn a lot there. There are links about vitamin D3 and magnesium malate and how they work in the body and there is a great link in how to maintain a positive attitude when you have chronic pain. All of Fibro 101 is good so do read it.
