Lactic Acid-like burning Fibro Pain?

I've got a couple of health issues- and have nevr been officially diagnosed with fibro or chronic fatigue or myofacial or anything but docs suggest it 'might be' fibro- Thing is i don't have any tender points- supposedly you're supposed to have like 8 out of 15 or so or something like that?

Symptoms:

--Exhausted al the time-
--Difficulty concentrating
both heat and cold intolerant (I never was years ago- came on gradual- heat and humidity is the worst- makes me weaker, shaky, sick to stomach- etc)
--Muscle weakness
--Get run down very easily- feel just awful for a few days if I've overdone it- and by over do it I am talking about only being able to do 1/4 of what i used to be able to do- it doesn't take much before I begin feeling run down now-
--some others, can't remember now- thanks to brain fog-
--I need naps during day to recharge enough to get through day- and to help relieve muscle weakness and pain some

But the main issue i have beside the weakness is whenever i try to do things like say something above head, like say painting above head, or going for a walk- my muscles tighten up, and won't release or relax, and i get a painful burning sensation like lactic acid buildup-

I've been forcing myself to walk about 1 mile a night for a couple of reasons, and i thought at first that I'd build up to the distance and it would get better- but it's just getting worse- not even an 1/8'th mile in my calf muscles tighten up and they are that way for the whole walk- the pain is nearly unbearable, and by the end of the walk, I'm kinda waddling side to side because my legs are so stiff from the pain-

--Another condition i have is my muscles are always tensed up- I'm constantly catching myself tensed up and have to consciously force myself to relax- but within seconds, I'm right back to tensing up without realizing it

Magnesium does help but i can't take much of it because of one of my health conditions- I can only take about a 1/2 pill- and it does help relax muscles as I'm resting some- but not much when working or walking

Does any of this sound like fibro? Especially the lactic acid-like burning muscle pain?

I to have many of the same issues you're experiencing, exhaustion, muscle weakness and especially the dang brain fog. And the difficulty concentrating is the worst when I'm tired and have a good flare up of IBS which came along with the fibro. I do a lot of self talking when that happens and remind myself that this is not dementia and everything will be better after getting some sleep and eating the right foods. When I'm feeling okay I tend to go off the wagon and eat the wrong foods.

I know what your mean about the feeling of lactic acid build up after doing any kind of exercise. I try to walk or something like yoga everyday or so and it doesn't matter for how long or what intensity, my muscles are sore right afterwards and for the rest of the day.

Sometimes this fibro stuff is so overwhelming and I hope this gives you some peace of mind.

I have some similar symptoms. It could be fibromyalgia, or any number of things. Some other things I thought of when reading were adrenal fatigue and hypothyroidism.

Owies -- I have diagnosed fibro and do not respond to the trigger point test. There are many who don't -- so many in fact it is no longer considered diagnostic criteria for fibro.

Hi, Nazareth! The tender points aren’t being used so much anymore for a fibro diagnosis. This is from WebMD.

“People with fibromyalgia have a history of widespread pain with no evident cause that lasts three months or more. There are may be multiple tender points on the patient's body that are identified by applying pressure to these spots. These can be a sign of fibromyalgia, but they are not needed for a diagnosis”

This is from the National Fibromyalgia Association.

“ New diagnostic criteria were developed by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) in 2010. These criteria do not use tender points but focus upon pain being widespread and accompanied by allied symptoms such as sleep problems, problems with thinking clearly, and fatigue.”

Knowledgeable doctors have moved away from the tender points for diagnosis because not all doctors know how much pressure to use among other problems. Pain in all four quadrants of our body is the hallmark of fibro. Then add cognitive problems fatigue and other issues and you most likely have fibro. BUT it is important to rule out other illnesses that have many of the same symptoms as fibro...things like lupus, Lyme disease, and MS. There is t a good test for fibro so these need to be ruled out first before a diagnosis of fibro is given.

I use ibuprofen, Tylenol. Vitamin D3, magnesium malate, and a prescription muscle relaxer called Robaxin (methocarbamol) that has made a significant difference in my pain. You might ask your doctor about this since you are having the muscle tightness.
