Rheumo and Fibro Relapse in FL?

Hi,

Every time we come down to Florida from Delaware, both my rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia come crashing back. My muscles ache so much, I feel as though I was hit by a bus. I woke up two days ago with my fingers all bent and stuck.

It's about 60-70F here in Clearwater. I had flares all summer in Delaware, and then everything calmed down until we got here two weeks.

Does anyone else feel worse in the heat? I thought it was the other way around.

Heat is usually good, but wonder if its the humidity? Or barometric pressure?

Patty, I live about a half an hour from Clearwater. 60-70 degrees is cold for me! I have more pain in these winter months. We have been having a series of cold fronts coming through the past couple of weeks so the barometric pressure changes could be affecting you too. But it's going to start warming up tomorrow and you just might find you start feeling better. I used to live in northern Ohio and am much better here in Florida but I also live here all year.

Do let us know if you improve when the warmer days arrive okay? We do care about you.

I wandered over here from the CFIDS forum, and thought I'd add my two cents.

Since you're noticing a change in your symptoms following a move to a different home, there is a possibility of a chemical sensitivity in your Clearwater home. (And the fact that you notice it "every time" is interesting.) Formaldehyde is a likely culprit. Formaldehyde is known as a "potent sensitizer," and an important trigger in autoimmune disease. It is found wherever glues and polyurethane foams are used, and wrinkle-free fabrics such as those used in upholstery. Construction materials include aspenite and particle board.

Is it possible that you worked too hard before you left, and that's what caused the flare?
