Ultrasound Machine?

I bought a home ultrasound machine quite awhile ago (2 years?) and went to use it recently but am not sure if it's working correctly. It does hum when I plug it in but I don't feel any heat or any vibration -is that normal?

Hi, I really don't know. Had you used it before?

When I used to have ultrasound treatments at the chiropractor's, there was sure vibration - I had to keep asking them to turn it down!

Hi, Sjde, and welcome! Acheybody is right. When I used to see a chiropractor he would do ultrasound treatments on me and I would feel a strong "zapping" sensation in my muscles. So I don't think your unit is working.

Do people find the TENS units with electrodes work better?

We have had several members who have used the tens unit and have liked it. I have never used it so I can't tell you from my personal experience. Maybe someone will hop on who has used the tens unit. You also can use our Google custom search at the top of the page to see posts about the tens unit.

sjde, a Tens Unit can be very beneficial for pain control & helping with muscular problems. I have been through several over the years. Now a Tens can be bought OTC, drugs stores, Walmart & online sites as well. They are inexpensive to expensive, depends on what you are willing to spend. I will not say the more expensive are any better because I know the cheaper ones can work too.

Tens was too strong for me, my muscles hated it ..i use a lower level one also know as m.e.n .s

Or micro current unit.
Its better for me..

I have a tens unit and an ultra sound unit. I really feel the tens but not the ultra sound. The directions with the ultrasound suggests you drop a few drops of water on the head of the unit to decide which intensity you want. The drops jump around like drops of water in a hot skillet.

Maybe you could try this to see if the unit is working.
Mine is 8 or 9 years old and still woking.
