Hi, Austen! This was an interesting article. I’m blessed that all my doctors believe in fibro. I think that is what is most important. Try to find doctors who are also diplomates. They have to take tests every couple of years, I believe, on the recent things in medicine. It keeps the doctors up to date.
Fibro is recognized by the American Medical Association, the American College of Rheumatology, the National Instatutes of Health, and the World Health Organization just to name a few. So things are getting better for us. It wasn’t that way just a handful of years ago.
Everyone should try to find doctors who will take the time to listen to you. This way they get to know you and trust what you are saying. My doctor knows me very well and also knows I don’t tell him everything so he admonishes me. I clam up because for 40 years I’ve had so many tests, blood work, doctors’ appointments and I’m sick of them. 😁. So, if I do complain about something new, he jumps on it because he knows it is something that really is bothering me for me to mention it. My complaints are never questioned.
But it is good that researchers are trying various things to help us. Our pain is very real and doctors need to not only listen to us but keep abreast of everything new in medicine. I definitely don’t want to be treated by a doctor that bases his diagnosis on just his or her opinion. If your doctor doesn’t believe in fibro, you definitely need to change doctors. Remember...50% of the doctors graduated in the lower half of their class.
Thanks, again, Austin! I hadn’t heard about this and it is kind of exciting!
