Advice on CPP disability appeal

Hello everyone I found this site in 2006 a few days after being told I have FMS at that time I felt I would be able to control the disease which also is accompanied sjorgens and cfs.  It has since been a down hill battle which I have had no control over. I had a very difficult winter and it has been a merry go round of trial and error with drugs.  My GP put me on EI sick benefits and filled out the CPP disability application.  I received denial letter last week and I wondering if anyone here can offer me advice on how to proceed. Thank you

Is CCP the Canadian version of disability?

Welcome to the fibromyalgia forum. I am glad that you found us. I am not sure of how the CPP disability goes, but hopefully there will be somebody here who does. Here you can actually appeal about three times, depending on what you are applying for. I only know SSI. And it may have changed since I applied. I was denied though. They figured I was well enough to sell tickets at a ticket booth. Whatever...

I hope you get some answers. It is hard living with chronic pain and illness. It sounds like you have your share. I hope that things get better for you.

Often here people get an attorney, but I would say, as long as you can appeal it, do so. I am sure sombody who knows more than I will respond to you. It is the weekend, and weekends are slower on the forum.

I to am fighting with CPP they send me a letter turning me down May 20 .
I have sent them a reg letter telling that I will appeal in Aug have sent them a updated report from my Rumatolist and informed them that there will be more info coming .Have my Doctor doing a letter for me to pick up on Monday as well. Have had chest xrays done and sleep study .
I know how you feel you work all your life and then when you need help they say no.
They told me i should be able to work at some thing .
I,m 60 years old and have always run a printing press thats what i do .
And I cant stand at s sales counts all day thats for sure.
I have RA , fibromyalgia and OA . When I phone the Gov I asked them how they wanted me to work all stoned with pain meds and there was no answer from them .
One thing is watch what you say on the phone because it is all recorded and they can take it the wrong way.
When I was talking to a Doctor friend she told me you have to whine about it all even if it seems minor to you. I think that was part of my problem filling the form out.I put my claim in last Aug 2012 so you have to wait a long time .

Thank you for your replies.  I certainly appreciate talking with people that truly understand.  But I must admit I had the feeling talking with the CPP representative the underlying problem was the condition (Fibro).

Hi. I am new here. I applied for CPPD and got a call yesterday my application was denied. She said because my last contribution was 2004. I went on medical leave in 2014 and finally decided to apply because my health is not getting better. I have fibromyalgia and a fractured spine from 2010. My question is, should I pursue an appeal? I paid into CPP since I was 14 doing summer jobs. I don’t think pensions should have an expiry date. Any advice?

I would see a lawyer my self.
I learned after my fight with them was turned down 2 times.
Won on the 3rd time with lawyer. It is amzing how much more paper work was done with the lawyer. They tryed to get me to retrain . But Lawyer asked why as i,m like 62 at the time .
cost me about $2700 to win but at lest i got all my benifets back dated .

Dear All,

The Disability Alliance BC will help you for free. Contact them first by phone 604 872 1278 to get an appointment. Ideally before filling in the forms for application for disability.

I made the same mistake in just going at it by myself applying for CPPD and I failed. Fortunately they helped me win my PWD.
