Hand Shaking/Jerking Fibromyalgia

I have involuntary hand movement and I see some of you are experiencing the same thing. It seems as though I'm getting new symptoms all the time. I was wondering if anyone has any solutions to getting it under control. [/

Hi, Aquila, and welcome! I don’t see much about hand shaking or jerking on this forum. I suppose it possibly could happen but it’s not a typical fibro symptom. If I were you I’d talk to my doctor about being checked for Parkinson’s Disease. There are things they can do to help with this IF it turns out that this is the case. At least have it ruled out.

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.

Hi, Sherrine, thanks for your quick response. I'm new to the forum, so it's taking me a minute to get used to how it works. I tried to find the forum where I saw others with fibromyalgia who were having the same symptoms, but I was not able to comment. I am aware of Parkinson's disease, but I wanted to see if anyone else with fibromyalgia were experiencing the same symptoms.

Aquila, the hand tremors can happen with multiple sclerosis also. Please get checked out by a board certified doctor. There is a lot of misinformation out there on the Internet.

Fibro can cause muscle twitches. They think this possibly is a neurological illness but I honestly don’t recall anyone talking about hand shaking/tremors and I’ve been here a long time. You can have fibro plus other things. I found that out with my back. So please get thoroughly checked out and see what you are dealing with. Then you can take the best plan of action and get these tremors under control.

Have you been checked for Lyme disease?

And..if so by a reputable lab?

Hi Aquilla. I do have fibro but do not have tremors. However, my sister has been troubled for years with hand shaking. Since my mom, her dad, and her sister all had Parkinson's my sister decided to be checked out. She went to a movement disorder clinic where my mom had gone. After a series of test my sister was diagnosed with essential tremors. For her they are triggered by cold weather and various types of stress. At this time she is not taking medication for the tremors but that is an option for her if the tremors get too bad. I believe these are also called familial tremors which my sister-in-law has had for thirty years. She takes medication for hers.

Like Sherrine mentioned it would be good idea to be checked out. It just might be something that can be controlled with medication and even life style changes. My sister is trying to live more stress free and is considering a move to a warmer climate. I hope this helps.

I have had fibro diagnosed since about 2015, but could identify sporadic symptoms since at least 2000. No one in my family has had tremors or Parkinson's disorder. I used to do surgery in !medical research. However, for the past 3 or 4 years I have noticed hand jerking while holding my phone or Kindle, to the point of involuntary tapping on the screen and changing sites. My PT noticed similar jerking in my
leg while she is trying to relax my hip joints. I looked it up and saw some mentions in research journals of finding these symptoms in fibro, but I didn't write down the sites.
