Recently I started having my chest feeling really tight sometimes, I touch my ribs and it really hurts; I do strechings for my myofascia and sometimes have to take my bra off. The first time it happened was after getting really upset with my son, and I got pretty scared, I told about it to my cardilogist who says it was nothing related to my heart since my tests came up ok.
Does soemone knows what can help with that. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Mibella, and welcome! Deep breathing exercises and ibuprofen should help. Since you had tests run by a cardiologist and ruled out heart problems, my next guess would be you are having an attack of costochondritis. Fibro people do get this.

Go into Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum and you will find a link all about cosochondritis. I think you will see yourself there. If you haven’t already, read all of Fibro 101. There is a lot of good information in it.

You said your chest felt tight. My question is does yours feel like a steel band getting tighter around the ribs?
Lately I've been having an elephant sitting my chest feeling and like razor blades cutting up the rib cage in
my back. I also have lupus and don't know if these are stress related or will change with the weather
patterns like the arthritis does. I'm up now as the muscle spasms felt like I was being beaten with a
baseball bat. Fun times??

Hi, Nana! One of the best descriptions of having a heart attack is that it feels like an elephant is sitting on your chest! You REALLY needed to see your doctor or, better yet, a cardiologist. My husband had these types of chest pains and we kept going to the doctor and and they kept ordering stress tests. We were never referred to a cardiologist and my husband ended up having a massive heart attack and died at only 51 years old.

These types of pain are the way our bodies are telling us something is very wrong. Women get back pain with heart issues too. So please don’t put it off. If you need a referral to see a cardiologist, ask your primary care doctor for one. Use healthgrades.com or vitals.com to check out the cardiologists in your area. You can get good info on these sites.

Please let us know what you do and how you are doing because we do care about you.

I haven't been to the cardio in about 8 months as I haven't had any issues. This is totally new and hurts like the Dickens. The rib cage hurts too and is like raw meat. I'll try calling him tomorrow and the same with the GP. My Mom died of a heart attack in her sleep at 52...I'm nearly 66 now. Thanks for the input.
