Does this happen with fibro?

Hi all. Question..........when you have something break down (hand, ruptured disk, tendonitis, etc.) is it common for your entire body to react to it? I have a ruptured disk (will get an injection next week), but almost every other place in my body hurts ALOT. And this has been going on for over 4 months, because of the virus keeping me away from docs). Is it common to have a specific "hurt" somewhere, but your entire body freaks out over it too? I sure hope so......'cause that might mean that this injection will calm a lot of other pains too.

Oh yes indeedy! Ruptured discs is something I can relate to well. I've had 2 in my lumbar spine and the repercussions have dominated my life for the ensuing 8 years. No fun. And we are such sensitive creatures that yes, everything seems to be connected

Injections didn't do anything for me but maybe they will for you. I hope so!

i hurt all over when my back was so bad. No o Ne did much to help me and assumed my back problems were caused by fibro. I did too! But after I saw a rheumy and had tests run that’s when ankylosing spondylitis was diagnosed along with fibro. That’s why I was getting progressively worse.

Then, in researching AS, on a NIH site it mentioned that some people with AS get help with Robaxin. Well. I had been prescribed it several years ago for my back pain and it did help so I asked the rheumy if they would prescribe it for me and see if it would help. They did and the rest is history. It helps so much with my pain...Not only in my back but all over! Oh, how I wished I had seen this years ago.

So be persistent and never give up. Hopefully this injection will give you relief and also try trigger point therapy on yourself. That has helped me also.

Thanks Sherrine and Joe. I actually sometimes take 10mg of cyclobenzaprine to sleep better at night (isn't that the generic to Robaxin?) Maybe I'm confused. Anyhow.....it helps me sleep well, but every single morning when I wake up, I'm in total hell. I immediately take tylenol and Tramadol (50mg) and it slowly starts to help. But I'm still in a fair amount of pain. In February, EVERY joint started hurting much more than ever. I woke up with pain in my middle finger metacarpal joint, and it has hurt pretty badly ever since. That's how it goes with me........I wake up with suddenly new pains.
Hey Joe.....no, I've never tried any type of muscle release PT. I've had a fair amount of PT for my legs, but it didn't seem to help much. I think my next doc will be for my pelvis/hips. When I got the lumbar MRI in March, I also got a pelvis MRI. When the radiologist went to compare it to the last one, she told my husband that she wrote a lot more about it than the last radiologist, but it hadn't changed in that year or 2. She said it sounds bad, but it's pretty normal for someone my age (70). But dang........it talks about bone spurs and tears, etc. For years, I've had terrible pain getting up out of chairs, and it's even worse now. So I need to figure out what's going on with that.
There's always somethin'.
I'm fortunate to have a husband who can order these tests for me, but when I don't have another doctor to really interpret them (not just the radiologist), we may be missing some important stuff.
It's funny (not)......I finally decided that I had to overcome my fear of going to the doctor's office and began to make appointments........right when the Covid 19 got bad, and they wouldn't see patients. Fortunately, some of them are doing phone/tele-visits/and even real visits now. Maybe I can figure some things out now.

Methocarbamol is the generic of Robaxin.

Hi, Skinny_Joe, and welcome! I’ve used a tennis ball against a wall to help loosen muscles and push on the trigger points. I have difficulty getting up off a floor.
