Hi CathyA,
i will have to look into the SIBO, I have gastroparesis, gerd, Eosinophilic Esophagitis, IBS c&d, fibro. my body has never done well processing any nutrition even as a baby. i have come to realize i've had a lot of issues since i was born but in the 80's nobody new anything about what i was going thru and could not help me i was labeled failure to thrive.... anyway. i was throwing up over 30 times a day and my doctor told me ether a feed tube or we could try something that is just being developed at that time he had only done about 1,000 stemulater surgury's. he put in a temporary one and i had little to no vomiting, nausa, i was actually able to eat a little. it was in for a week. i went in got it taken out .....a 2 minute procedure. my husband and i barely made it to the parking lot and i was already throwing up. took me 5 minutes to stop . called the dr. in the car on the way home and told him i wanted the surgery.
there is a battery pack and its maybe an inch by inch just below my right rib. there are 4 leads or lines that go from there to the outside of my stomach. and the device has different settings like low med high. once it is in I go to the dr. he puts a device over the battery pack and it gives him all the info he need and he can adjust the pulse as needed. it makes my stomach contract at intervals since my stomach doesn't know how to do that anymore. it can last 3-5 years depending on how high the setting is. my first one lasted 6 years. and it only had to be replaced because one of the leads broke. the battery was still going dr. said it could have lasted a lot longer. but becuse he was in there he just replaced everything. that was 2 years ago. i would not be doing as well as i am with out it. i still have nausea and vomiting about 1 every few months and on few occasions here and there. when i start throwing up and neausa consistently i know something is wrong and i eather need to have the dr. change my setting or the battery/divice need looked at.
