Could I have Fibromyalgia?

 I just found this site today. I have been trying to find info on fibro and I just don't know if my symptoms fit. I have been having pain in my mid upper back and shoulder blades. My mid back feels like it could just break in half at times and I feel like my back is on fire buring up toward my neck. My Shoulder blades are in pain and my neck sometimes feel like there is a vice grip on it. I have had neck surgery before. I have a cage in there that fixed a disk and a infusion. I do have bone spurs. I went to my Orthopedic surgeon doc today and he saw my xrays and ct scan and he said that he thought I was really in a mess and that he was sending me to a Rheumatology specialist. He said words like fibromyalgia and lupus and I dont remember what else. I have looked up RA and I don't fit that I am sure. I don't think I fit lupus either. But what about fibro? I forgot to mention that I have numbness in my hands and feet. Fingers and toes ya know. Like pins and needles. Its random and comes and goes. Sounds like a pinched nerve to me? I don't have pain in legs. I don't have pain in arms but maybe some weakness. I do have memory problems. I have severe depression problems but have for years and I am on meds for that. I sometims have trouble falling asleep but usually not because of the meds I take make you sleep. If I wake up at night I cant go back to sleep but usually make it through the night. I do have fog problems SOMETIMES. I couldn't tell you when I had a normal bowel movement. Memory is a big problem for me. But I have had ECT's and that could be the cause. No rashes and only breathing problems is smoking related. I do shed hair. I don't know what else to think of. I am pretty healthy other that always hurting. I am sick and tired of hurting. I have these killer muscle spasms that go on and on. They last for days on end. I finally get them to let up and they start all over again. But I always have the pain in back and shoulder blades and neck. SO Please tell me. Could it be Fibro? I have a month to wait until I go for my first appoinment with the new doc. Then there will be tests and more waiting right??? All advice welcome.

A rheumatologist is a good place to start.  Most rheumy's, as we like to call them, are the ones that diagnose and treat fibro.  For me, my board certified Internist takes care of me.  But, many here got their final diagnosis with a rheumatologist. 

They will probably run bloodwork and a lot of other tests on you to rule out other illnesses.  Fibro mimics other illnesses so they run the tests to rule out the other stuff.
