Here i go again another pill, Dr.wants me to start Topamax, have any of you tried it and how did it work for you?  I really don`t know about another pill as i take 10 aday as is and on Fridays i take 18.

I think i own the pharmacy by now, i am in there almost every week. I am blessed that i have a small co-pay as all i would be doing is working for my pills.

anyway, i need some input on this pill before i get it filled.

I was put on Topamax about a week ago, and immediately felt a numbness of my right foot.  This was very hard for me, as I have never had any real adverse side effects of medications, and I too, take about 10 at the moment.  I have decided not to take the Topamax and just live with the headaches. 

I found a great site - http://www.askapatient.com.  You can do a search on drugs and read patients' accounts of their experiences with those drugs.  Most of these accounts are very negative, as people seldom find the need to post when everything is going well, so please don't let the site frighten you.  Still, it's good to know what the side effects are for the different medications.

I understand that topomax is good for losing weight. So if that is an issue for you, you will be happy to know this. I wish you the best with this medication. Keep us posted as to how you are doing with it.

I dont take topomax but can Identify with you not wanting to take yet another med. I currently take a minimum of 34 pills a day. I remember years ago I was visiting at my in-laws house and the grandma of the family was there too. She got out her meds and there were so many she had to put all the bottles in a gallon zip lock bag. I thought that was the strangest thing to have to take that much medicine as an old lady and thought "that will never be me". Well, I recently took a trip to Las Vegas and had to put all my meds in quart sized zip lock bags for security and I had like 3 bags full!!!! so much for me thinking that would never be me! and I'm only 48.

Hi,

I take topomax 100mg in a.m. and 100mg in p.m. . I don't have migranes but it is also used for mood disorders which i have. I don't have any wierd side affects but there is a side affect of weight loss I have heard about. I have lost weight but I'm not sure if its because of the topamax. I have been on it for at least 6 months or more. My son 11 takes it also. I don't get headaches that often though. Don't know if its because of the med or not. And I do have a pharmacy of my own too! That's why I'm kina leery of starting new meds for fibro. I know I need something to help me but ANOTHER PILL??? But I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.
