NEWBIE please be gentle with me

just wanted to introduce myself really ........im 25 and for the last 3 months have been getting a right old mixture of problems and i think i may have fm my symptoms are pains in my knees,elbows,hand,wrists,feet and ankles ,my joints seem to throb ,i get shooting pains up my arms (starting at wrist)and also up my legs ,my leg muscles feel really tight like iv been on the running machine for to long ,also my arms feel the same when trying to hoover and do other housework ,i have to stop half way up the stairs as it feels like my legs are gonna cramp and go all tight ,i have probs holding my son as i feel my arms are week and i will drop him and then my arms really hurt i think cus iv tried to hold on to him to tight ???i cant hold a pen and write for long as my arms and fingers kill me (mainly my middle finger and thumb) my neck and shoulders hurt like iv slept funny (cant explain how they feel sorry)my legs feel tender to touch ,my main prob is my feet ,legs and ankles i feel like my right ankle is gonna snap at any moment ,my feet burn when i put pressure on them ,i feel like my toes are squashed like iv got tight shoes on even when i dont ,my legs feel like they will give way sometimes and im shatered i can sleep forever and still go bed and sleep .somedays iv slept from 3.30 in the afternoon right through until the next morning and it still took me ages to feel awake ,i have constant headaches worse than ever .everyday is differant and a differant part that hurts except the feet they hurt everyday ,i have started getting bad stomach cramps and unmentional toilet probs .i have had a full blood test done and all is fine and also iv been tested for the RA  factor all was fine and my dr is baffled he prescribed me lycria 75mg once a day for a week and then twice a day for 3 weeks ,so far i have no relief from these tablets altho my pains do ease of around lunchtime and then come back in the evening so i dont if its the lycria kicking in at that time or if the pain would have eased anyways .anyways though the best people to ask would be those who have this and have a better unstanding of it ,do you rthink its possible that its fm ???.thank you for reading this far   hadnt realised how much id rammbled on .thank you xxxxxxxx

Sorry to hear you are having such a rough go of it right now.  One good thing is that you are looking into the reasons for why you feel this way.  I had fibro symptoms years ago but back then fibro wasnt even something anyone knew about so I just dealt with the pain and figured it was just something that I was dealing with.  I too get the leg cramping specially when walking uphill and on stairs.  I feel like I just cant go another step and have to stop and rest. It is really hard for me to have to hang on the phone on hold.  It feels like my arm is going to drop off and it gets so tight and sore around my neck and shoulders.  I have just recently started getting the all over joint pain.  I feel like if I move my wrists or anckles around enough that they will "pop" but it doesnt help.  There is this pressure  and cramping that makes you constantly flex the joints.  I do have issues with headaches too.  I can go for weeks with nothing then its back and stays for weeks on a daily basis.  I dont have as much trouble with fatigue as others here but I have my days where I am fighting sleep all day long and all I can think about is going to bed.

 

Sherrine gave you some very good advice.  She is right on top of anything you need to know so if you follow her advice you will be going in the right direction for sure.  Feel free to come here and ask anything that is a concern to you or to just vent on days when you feel like you cant take it anymore.  I have found that just to talk with ppl that understand what your going through is so helpful and they have been there or are going through some of the same things as you right now.  Take care and I wish you luck in getting that diagnoses.

Lasen, you can have flares for one day or for many months!  We just never know.  The key is to find what help you feel better and do it!  We may be able to help  you in that department.  I've had fibro for 21 years and have had a very full and happy life.

 

It does really help to keep a positive attitude.  Things could be worse.  You aren't going to die from this.  When you are having an especially bad day, just think.  Tomorrow could be great!  Just take one day at a time and please, please, please, keep  your sense of humor!  This will get you through the bad times.  Don't focus on the pain.  Focus on something else and many times the pain will fade a little because you are not thinking aobut it.

 

Get busy reading and come and ask questions.  We all learn a lot on this forum.  There are some wonderful people here that are always willing to help.  Have a good day!

I had severe leg cramps until they were like lumps of petrified tree , burning through arms , neck, joints felt like someone had tried to pull limbs from socket,  you will now be on the long path of docs, specialists ect .  goood luck    It took me two years but now am on the right meds and are alot better but it took 2 docs, 2 pain spec, 1 reumy.  Lyrica in large doses help me plus I was put on a narcotic patch which made huge diff but took alot of time to get them to take it seriously, I wish I had of known about this forum earlier but only just fouond out .    Big welcome , look forward to conversing with you. 

thank you for the welcomes ,i can see me having another website addiction coming on   today iv woke up and oh god its a bad day ,feet ,ankles,legs ,fingers,wrist and elbow today im hoping as today i up my dose of lycria maybe it will have some effect on me ,we will see .im glad i found this site altho i wish i didnt have to as im sure all of you do aswell ,cus when i looked into on medical sites where they list the symptons they dont go into much detail and it confussed me cus it feels like its my ankles,elbows,wrists and hands that hurt aswell which i know fm isnt to do with the joints but pain can be ffelt in them ??? is that right ???  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

ps those with kids how do you cope ???

hi marlee2 ,its really strange how they feel but i will try my best to describe the pain they ache like a headache would feel and throb and also a bit of a sting with it ,but at the same time theres a slight pins and needles (hadnt noticed that b4 but as im sat here trying to figure out what it feels like im noticing more)in the end of my thumb it sometimes feel like someones poking a pin in it but a fatter pin as its a big area that hurts also when i try to straighten them they feel a bit stiff but like its the skin that is tight .i hope this makes sense i dont think lyrica agrees with me ,it does nothing for the pain and since starting on two a day today its wrecked my head ,i really hope the dr dont up the dose to help the pain cus my head couldnt handle it .as long as im concentrating on something i dont feel so bad ,so i may do lots of posts tonight   xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
