Jeannie, my hair was/is curly. I was the one trying to have it straight and calm.lol. I had a hard time talking my mother into using the lotion that was out then to straighten hair. I was so desperate, I let my SIL iron my hair. BIG mistake. She burned off quite a bit. Mom wasn't happy. Man, did that smell I did try to use big rollers, like soup cans. What a sight. My older sister got electric curlers for me. I used them for yrs. until I decided to cut my hair really, really short. My arms always felt tired from holding them up. My friends had straight hair, and they never seemed to be bothered w/ the aches & pains I had. I just thought they handled it better than I did.
My mother said everyone feels like this. Yrs later I tried to explain what I had learned, she didn't want to hear it. She felt I was blaming her for my being this way. I was trying to explain that I think she & I both have this prob. She doesn't believe she has this prob, and not too sure that I have it. She takes her cue from my older sis, if she believes then it must be true, if not, oh well.
I have pushed for too long w/ my arms and legs. I put others before me and neglected my health. Right now I'm in PT to get some ROM and strength back in arms and hopefully my hands. I can't lift much of anything right now. The 2lb weights in PT feel like a ton sometimes. My grip is really bad. But I will continue to try, because I'm not ready to STOP yet, I can barely stand being SLOW.
Hope you're having a good day. God bless. Alice.
