Is This A Flare?

Hi all

 

Ok everyone knows that I have been bragging about how much better I have felt since starting the Lyrica.  Well for the past 2-3 days my feet have been burning at work real bad and then at night they are burning as well.  Also started burning up into my calfs last night.   I thought maybe the Lrica had stopped working.  But then this morning I woke up stiff as a board and hurtning all over again. smhair

 

When you all are in a flare does the meds not help as much as when you're not?  Could this just be a flare and they Lyrica is still working just not helping as much right now?

Hi Megs,

I think that the latter is right. It sounds like you are going into a flare, and when you do, nothing seems to work. A lot of us are having trouble with the weather changing right now. My feet burn on the bottoms. I notice it when I am sitting down. So far that is the only time. I think it is nerve damage from the fibro. Not sure. Hope it isn't anything to do with diabetes, I am on the borderline right now for that.

But I think once the weather stablizes, we will all be feeling better. I have been more tired, how about you?

Yeah I have been more tired for the past 2-3 days too. My feet burning was the very first symptom of fibro I had. it started about 6 years ago. The my hubby and I were in a car wreck 4 years ago January(not even a bad one) and that is when all the other symptoms started to rear their ugly heads. I thought too mine may have been diabetes because it runs in both sides of my family and my dad has it. But I am tested on a regular basis. So I know now that it is just this ugly fibro. Do you think it would help it to take a Lyrica this morning too? (I am supposed to be taking them twice a day) But decided not to because it made me so tires when I did.

I would take it as prescribed, from what I understand about lyrica, the tiredness will go away. Along with any other side effects. Your system just has to get used to it. I don't take it, but others on the forum do. They would probably know more than I do. But from what I have read, the symptoms go away after a while. So give it a try if you feel you should. I think that the doctor has a reason for prescribing it twice daily. If it continues to be bothersome, then I would get ahold of him and tell him about it.

Good luck, I understand that a lot of people have good results with it.

Missy, it does sound like the start of a flare.  It may not get any worse.  Burning is a symptom of fibro.  I printed out the list of symptoms, found on the Fibro 101 thread, and I check it out when something new comes up.  My pain does increase, no matter what meds I'm taking, too.  But, hopefully, this will be short lived.  It could be the barometric pressure, too.  That causes my pain to fluctuate.  Let us know how you are doing!
