I have condritis and have been experiencing a lot of pain and a feeling of my chest area feeling uncomfortably hot inside. I don't see any mention of anyone having this burning sensation.  Would like to know if anyone has had success with a TENS Unit or Celebrex. Cant't take most anti-inflammatories so suffer through this and it is making me very weary. I try and stay cheerful but when in constant pain it wears me down. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Kasi and welcome to our fibro family!!! I'm so glad you've found and joined us. We're a tiny oasis in this sea of pain.

I don't have costochondritis but I do get burning sensations in the muscle from fibro pain. Have you mentioned this feeling to your doc? Many folks here do have costo and I'm sure others will join in with ideas.

We do have a 'Daily Check-In' and we'd be delighted if you'd join us when you can. It's something fun to read and/or do each day to help focus away from your pain and on happy and insightful things in life. You only need to post when you feel like it. Many folks start their day with a warm beverage and the Check-In each morning. It's a connection to others who truly understand how you feel.

We also have free Fibro awareness ribbons. All you need to do to get one is ask. ;-) Send me an email and I will mail your right out. We do have a post about it buried somewhere but it's also at the top under Fibro 101. Once your ribbon is mailed to whatever address you provide the information is disposed of. Hi Kasi and welcome. I do get the burning pain in different places on my body and have had it in the ribs. Ask your doc about lidoderm patches for your ribs. They are 4x6 pads with lidocaine in them that numbs the area enough to help with the pain. You can wear them 12 hrs on and 12 hrs off. For some reason my doc will only let me use one at a time. I've heard others say they use up to three at a time. I was first rxd them for broken ribs. They don't help much for deep pain but your ribs are so close to the surface. I also use them on my hand for osteoarthritis.

 

I do use TENS unit when the pain is really bad cause I can't take narcotics and only take tylenol and tramadol for pain. It does seem to help to interrupt the pain signal to the brain or at least gets my mind off of it by the sensation.
