What motivates you

Cleaning IS hard work! When we first moved here, I trained for a few days as a chamber maid while I waited for the restaurants to call me back; I needed a job right away. I know that if I was still there, I could not do it with the fibro, adn I am in an already demanding field. There were times since last May that I haven't moved. The fatigue and pain would get me down, I get out of a routine, some depression from not functioning liek I used to... well, you know what it's like. But when I finally get myself going, it is so worth it! Exercise makes me feel better and gives me more energy.

I think about my goal for a while before doign it. I don't necessarily give myslef a day to start, but an approximate time line so I don't procrastinate too much. I psyche myself up, adn when I start to believe my own hype is when I set a date for a few days ahead. Well, that's how I did it for restarting to exercise and my diet again. Once it's a routine, it's so much easier. Plus I love the way pilates makes me feel. I don't find it too strenous, but it really makes the muscles work. The stretching and deep breathing relax me adn feel great on the tight muscles. I also did this for sorting the baby albums, and organizing my office.

If you jsut want to start on a project that would get you moving, how about redoign a room in your house? Think about new ways to move the furniture, maybe some new accessories, a mew paint colour for the house? Anythign that you like or are passionate about is what you need to find to start you moving and excited about things. Then you will see it gets easier and you will have more energy to keep goign. I stronly believe that apssion is a wonderful fuel for the body.

What motivates me is thinking about what happens to my body when I'm not motivated.  I sure get tempted a lot.  But, I know if I just didn't do anything because I hurt, nothing would ever get done plus I would hurt even more.  That's why I plan what I'm going to accomplish the following day and I stick to it.  That gets me out of bed and moving...that and my dog's pleading eyes to take her for a walk.

My faith, and on a more fickle level, money. bills to pay etc, and also as a high school teacher dealing with 'at risk' teens, it motivates me to get up, go to work and be there for them (my students have behavioural and emotional problems- ADHD, violence, drugs etc)

if i had it my way, id sleep my life away, which is a bad thing, i know- but so often its all i feel capable of. but my faith keeps me going, i believe God wont give me more than i can handle.

I would be tired too if I cleaned houses. It is physically demanding, so on your day or days off your body is tired. It does not take me much to get tired.

I "try" to have a game plan every day. But if my body is telling me what I had planned for the day is not going to happen, I try to go with the flow and not do as much and not get down on myself for it. Like Sherrine said, I also know how I am going to feel if I do not get going or I will feel worse. So most days I do get a few things done and also get some walking in.

And once in awhile I give myself permission to get on the couch in my PJs too and not do anything!!
