Bad fog...tingling/numbness

I've been in a bad fog over the last week - I may have already posted something about this, but I looked and I don't think I have - so if this is a repeat, my apologies.

I've been getting bad tingling/numbness in my feet - that's where it started - then it started happening in my fingers - happened in my lips twice. Sometimes when it happens in my feet it goes all the way up to my knees and its really starting to freak me out. Not really sure what it could really be - my doc mentioned nerve damage - didn't really say anything else though - getting a new one of those. It started at dinner again tonight - its started to get into the freezing temps here - so I thought maybe from cold - but I've gotten back to my dorm room and stuck my hands in front of the heater, run them under hot water and now I've been holding on to one of those Hot Hands things that get incredibly warm and are uber amazing and its helped but hasn't really gone away and my feet are tingling too - I dunno - I just don't understand. If it isn't one thing its another thing. My doc mentions nerve damage and just doesn't say anything else about it and I'll be honest I'm kinda freaked out. Its always one thing after another with health issues and I feel like by the time I hit middle age I'm gonna be tellin' 'em to pull the plug or something.

Ok - so maybe I'm exaggerating..a lot. I'm just frustrated and upset and I'm having some issues right now with... everything. I'm gonna clean my room and do something productive.

Hi!  One of the symptoms of fibromyalgia is Raynaud's-type symptoms.  With Raynaud's Disease, the extremities will get cold and the fingers will turn white so part of what you described seems to fit.  I'm not saying you have Raynaud's but you are possibly having symptoms like that but being caused by fibro.  You should talk to your doctor about that.

 

I have had tingling and numbness, occasionally, and that is caused by nerves.  But, it's not nerve "damage" because it has gone away.  When you  have nerve damage and it doesn't go away it's called neuropathy.  Diabetics can suffer from this.

 

I would suggest you talk to your doctor about it, maybe ask to have your thyroid checked.  Many with fibro to have hypothyroidism. 

 

I'm sorry you are going through this right now.  Hopefully this will go away.  That's what I always think when something new pops up.  I expect it to go away and then I focus on other things.  I do not dwell on the problem and start worrying about it.  That usually makes things worse.  If something really concerns me, I see my doctor.  I hope this helps and please let us know what you find out.

I know all these weird feelings is concerning to you. I think you need to keep a journal of all this so when you do find a new doc you can go in armed with everything that has been happening to you. With the fog if I don't write things down when they are happening I will forget by the time I go to the doc. I get tingling sensations, warm sensations and even cold sensations there is even times when I swear parts of my body can feel cold and warm at the same time. It is crazy.

 

Yeah, I was surprised when I got on the computer this morning and it was 19 degrees big change from our 70 degree temps last week. It's up to 30 now. I got out of my warm bed with everything hurting this morning. I don't know how the outside temp can affect us inside but it seems to. Stock up on hand and feet warmers. At least we don't have snow yet.

I hope you are still feeling better! I know that when new symptoms happen, it can be very unsettling. It did always make me feel better to hear that others were going through the same symptoms I was.

My symptoms started very slowly with vague aching and fatigue, along with weird fog. (BTW, started a thread to you about the fog you had experienced in the hallway a few weeks ago. I don't know if you saw it. It was titled Leeriesan.) Then a few months later, my left foot went numb, and one side of my face. The feelign is still not back fully in that foot, I'm not ticklish anymore, but my doctor doesn't seem concerned about it. Since then I have numbness, vibrations, and tingling in my hands, feet, and face. And yes, it has gone up to the elbows or the knees. Does you numbness change with swtiching positions? My feet go numb when I stand, but if I walk they are usually fine. My hands almost always go numb if they are hanging by my sides, and worse when I close my eyes. But then it gets better if I flex them. I'm gettign used to these feelings, so they don't frighten me anymore.

Keep posting and askign questions, and hopefully soon you will start to see a pattern emerging for your own body. And I hope you find another doctor soon that can give you another opinion!

I get the tingles quite often actually. It can feel weird and be frustrating. I mostly get it in my hands and arms...
