darn insurance company

Thanks everyone for your support so far. I have read EXTENSIVELY about this disease/disorder now and I think I've exhausted the amount of new information. So....one of the things I've learned is that I must have a rather severe case of it. Despite the fact that I'm otherwise healthy, I keep reading about people going to work and making "adjustments" like more comfortable chairs and such and "pacing themselves" and I'm like...are you kidding me? I can work for about 4 hours max and then I am so DONE it's not even funny. My rheumatologist said I should try to work 2 days at 8 hours plus one 4 hour day rather than 5 four-hour days. (So I can rest). So on the 8 hour days I'm just dragging myself around in the afternoon with no brain. (I'm a senior minister of a large, multi-staffed church, so the work is very brain-oriented, if you know what I mean. I have to be somewhat "present" for people and by about 2 pm that is just laughable. I can barely stand up without leaning on a cane - something I now own.)

Anyway, today my insurance company called me and told me that they denied my appeal (they initially denied my claim too). They say there was not enough objective medical evidence. Now the thing is, I hadn't been to the rheumatologist yet so they don't have that report. Yet my GP and my physiotherapist wrote really lengthy "medical-legal letters" all of which documented chronic pain and headaches going back years. I'm wondering what sort of "objective evidence" there ever is for a person in chronic pain or with debilitating headaches or with chronic fatigue. Geesh!

I just looked up the company's stock profile and it's pretty grim....shares down over the past two months by HALF. Egad! This probably has something to do with it. Unfortunately for them, they've d***ed with the wrong person - I'm not about to give up. I can't work. I pay for disability benefits. I should be entitled to them.

All I want to do is cry now. But I have to buck up and get another appeal in order. And yes, I do have a lawyer so it will probably cost me most of whatever I might win in the end but what else can I do?
