hi everyone,

i hope you are all having a good day. i have some questions, and though i would ask them all in one instead of starting multiple threads. do you any of you experience any of the following:

1. significantly increased pain in hot, humid weather? i've seen a lot of posts about people feeling worse in the cold, but not the heat. i feel horrible in heat and humidity, and much better when it's cold out.

2. blurry vision? my eyes blur randomly for super short periods of time. they also get fuzzy when i focus on something up close then look away to something far away.

3. a weird burning sensation in the fingers and toes? i describe this as feeling like you've played in snow with no gloves or shoes on, then running your hands and feet under really hot water. it's a numb, slightly painful burning type feeling that i get a lot. (i also get this feeling in private, personal, female areas. sorry if that's too much information! lol)

4. shooting, zapping pain throughout the body, and also in the head? it feels like electricity or a cattle prod. just..zap! zing! out of nowhere. i also have a very sore tender spot on the back of my head that is painful to touch.

just wondering if any of you have any of these symptoms, or if i'm just weird...

Yes, yes and yes.  I just posted the other day about the blurry vision.  Especially at the computer...I look away and everything is blurry.  I get bran zaps all the time...don't know if it's anxiety or fibro, but I get them.  I burn all over, the toes and fingers too.  And yes...it reminds me of sticking my hands or feet  in a snow bank.  I just feel better in the warmer weather than the cold.  Not hot steamy weather...that bothers me.  But the cold makes me feel worse.  Guess it's just part of this disease!

thank you so much donna for your input! to me, these are some of the most troublesome symptoms and i was starting to get concerned, so thank you for putting my mind at ease a bit! it is helpful to know i am not the only one who gets these symptoms.

No, you're not weird! LOL.

 

I have a severe intollerance to heat. I live in a dry climate, and I can't even begin to imagine how horrible I'd feel if there was humidity to add to the heat!  I can't tollerate temperatures above 20C or 70F.  I turn my air conditioning on in the car when it's only about 15C or 60F!  My husband thinks I'm nuts.  The cold is fine!  I actually don't mind winter, lol.

 

That weird burning sensation you get, do your fingertips or toes turn color?  Bluish or white or purple?  Do you notice this happening when the weather is cold?  There is a syndrome called Raynaud's Phenomenon.  Common in Fibro and Lupus.  I get this.

 

I can't say I get the other things you were asking about.  But I get two of them!

70-78 is ideal temp for me hotter or cldr is not good.
I often feel like Im being shocked especially when some one touches me. The hands and feet often tingle I was just diagnosed yesterday with Raynauds. I often get blurry eyed up until know I have blamed it on my contacts. you are not alone.

Blurry vision, numbness in fingers and toes, and those muscle zaps (like electricity) are also indicated in MS. Get tested for that to be on safe side. My mother has MS. Also, the heat. MS folk cannot get overheated. She  wears a special vests with ice packs in it to keep her temperature under control.

Danielle we are all weird. devil Have you ever thought about what someone who had never heard of fibro would think if they stumbled onto this forum and sat and read our post??? turn

 

Can't stand the heat and can't stand the cold. I can't regulate my temp inside the house. I go from hot to cold in a minute. I realized last night at one point I had ceiling fan and my little heater on at the sametime. The hypothalamus controls our temp so it must be messed up.

 

I have had the blurry vision.

 

My doc said the burning, tingling feeling in feet is neuropathy.

 

I get the little shooting pains in my head. Actually, I can push on the large muscle on left side of the back of my neck and cause little shooting pains in my head.

 

The joys of fibro.

My sister has MS and get the zaps that go through her body. I don't mean to worry you, but maybe you should get tested for MS.

These symptoms are also indicative of diabetes, especially the numbness and blurry vision. You need a once over by a good doc with some labs done.

Do you take anti depressants? Sometimes they can cause the brain zaps. I think I posted on another forum, the blurry vision on the computer can come from the fact that we don't blink our eyes much when on a computer, they get dry.

I love the heat! But then again, I grew up in the tropics, then moved to Canada - so I've never actually gotten warm in 40 years.
(lol)

Yes, yes and yes for #s 2, 3 and 4. Especially 4! I'm glad to hear someone else has the zap! zap! kind of pain cuz I was beginning to feel like an idiot around my house when I suddenly grab the side of my head and yell "ow!"

i had a full blood work up last year (it was my birthday/tax return present to myself...hooray, right? lol) and i do not have diabetes or any other sort of sugar issue, so that's been ruled out. thank you for bringing that up, though :)

i am not on anti depressents, no. and my "zaps" occur all over my body-arms, legs, fingers, toes. ugh..also, my blurry vision comes at totally random times, not just when i am at the computer, though looking at the computer does seem to cause more of the "fuzzy" eyes than anything else.

the m.s. is what i'm concerned about myself, actually. i had a tentative m.s. diagnosis given to me by a gp about 5 years ago (i have lesions on my brain) but wasn't able to see a neurologist until about 3 years ago. (long story..aren't they all? lol) he did another mri on me (i've had a totally of 4) and my lesions hadn't changed at all and that combined with the fact that i passed all of the muscle/coordination tests he gave me made him think i do NOT have m.s. i don't know though. i definitely seem to have some of the symptoms..i asked around on the m.s. forum and had a couple of people tell me the symptoms sound like they could definitely be m.s. it's very concerning to me, obviously, and i just wish i could get a dr. around here to listen to me enough to get me in to see another neurologist for a 2nd opinion, but since i don't have insurance, dr.'s don't like to do much of anything for me..

i have the tender points, though, and so have had a fibro diagnosis.i'm starting to wonder if maybe i have a bit of both? i don't know. it's just all so frustrating, it makes me want to cry. (i DO cry sometimes, with all of it...)

ok-i'll stop whining now! lol i do appreciate everyone's responses and support! you guys are so wonderful:)

i get the shooting pains throughout my body and they make me want to scream sometimes!
like marlee, i go from hot to cold very quickly, sometimes i take a sweatshirt on and off again, but that gets really annoying, so sometimes i just wait for it to change back. it's nice knowing that i'm not the only one that it happens to cause my friends think that its so strange and weird that i'll be burning up while they're freezing, and then i'll be cold the next minute!!!!!

Yes, yes, yes,and yes!  I live in Florida and love it but when we have really high humidity and heat, I'm in pain.  I'm in pain with the cold, too.  The temperature needs to be perfect for me!  LOL

 

I get blurry vision occasionally, too.  The more you think about it the worse it gets.  I have to use closed captioning to watch television and sometimes I really notice the blurriness.

 

I have one foot that feels like it's a block of ice but when I touch itk it's warm.

 

I'll get shooting pain in various places but I don't get it in the head.  I probably have had five mild headaches in my life and I'm 61, so that's probably why I'm not affected.
