I am new to this forum, but have been struggling with the pain and can't work because of it.  My neck hurts so bad that I get migraines and have to get a shot for them. My back all joints even toes!!!!!!Can't hardly take it anymore. Have gained 20lbs in the last year and think it is all the meds I am on.  Mouth is so dry. Can't take much more of me ya know? Thanks for listening.

Hi & Welcome to the forum,

I had headaches that started in my neck and shoulders for years. The doctors always told me they were tension headaches, but nothing helped. Now, I know it was Fibro. I also get dry mouth pretty bad from the meds and I've gained 65 lbs. over the last 4 years because of meds and also not moving and doing the things I used to. It seems I just don't have the energy or hurt too much to do anything.

Hang in there! Things will get better. I hope you get to feeling better. You can come and complain anytime you need to.

HI there,

Welcome to the fibromyalgia forum.  As always I like to direct new members to the fibro101 thread.  It is the second thread on the page.  There is a lot of helpful information that I think that you would benefit from reading. 

I have a thing called a bed buddy.  It is like a long tube filled with rice (I think).  I heat it up in the microwave and then place it around my neck.  The moist heat relaxes the muscles in your neck and that really makes me feel better.  That might be something that would help you too.  You can even make them out of a sock.  But I found mine at Walmarts in the pharmacy area.  I think that you would truly be glad that you tried it.  It may not take your headache away, but I am sure that it would help some.

Hi Notcrazy and welcome. I have headaches from my neck but I wouldn't call them migraines. My neck and shoulders are two of the worse places I get pain. I have been putting up the Christmas tree and just looking up for awhile has mine hurting or it could be from holding my arms up so much today too.

 

The rice bags or Bedbuddy Karen spoke of helps a lot. If you take a long tube sock and fill it about 2/3 the way full of uncooked rice and tie a knot in the end you can heat it in the microwave a few minutes and it will form to the shape of your neck. Any form of moist heat is our friend.

 

Sometimes if I lay down for awhile and put something under my neck to support it will help.

 

I'm glad you found us and I'm sure you will get lots of help on here.

Hi Notcrazy, I love your name.  I use a bed buddy as well, especially for my neck & shoulders.  I use a bed buddy on my cold feet too.  My feet are always cold.  Nice to meet you, this is a wonderful forum.  Huge, denise
