Well we have a balmy 16 degree's here and already had 6 inches of snow but are now getting another 18 inches dropped on us tonight and into tomorrow.  I am so friggen cold in this old apartment that by the way has no heat upstairs beyond this lil space heater I gots going on my legs as the pain in my feet was making me nuts.  We arent even sure if our family will be able to get together for x-mas eve if the roads dont clear up. I did finally get myself some boots although not what I wanted, tis better then tennis shoes.  They are almost knee high firemen looking boots cept in a lovely patent leather look lol.  I did venture out across the road to the grocery store,which was totally deserted.  The only problem was,Jay is 6'2" and I am only 5'1" walking in 10 inches of snow.  It felt like walking through deep sand and my legs were aching so bad and even with 3 pairs of socks in those boots my feet were still cold.  Talk about layers,I looked like the Michilin man lol.

 

My brother did make it out here so we got my Mom anything she needed since she is pretty much trapped in her apartment.  I am so thankful though that this year she is in a warm safe place.  This time last year she was in a very cold drafty house on a dark lot that  had 3 attempted breakins last winter to the point that someone had even gone so far as to cut her electric and phone lines one night but not before she called us and we scared off whoever was there.  Where she is now, its in a senior building with lots of lights around it and her electricity is included in her rent so she can stay as warm as she pleases. Last weekend my brother and I decorated moms place.  I just spent 3 days at my daughters with my grandkids and they are so looking forward to us getting together for x-mas eve.  They are also going stir crazy being shut up in the house.  Normally they would be outside playing in the snow but our tempertures have been so dang cold.  I hope everyone is warmer then  we are here ,and as pain free as possible.

We have gotten tons of snow too, and it is soooo cold. I keep waiting for the day that I can do something outside. All I can do now is sit inside and look at it. I would rather see green than white. Oh well, that is a part of where I live I guess. Just got to deal with it. But I know how you feel. I keep a heater in my bathroom because it was always so cold. It does make a difference. Are you in a location that usually gets snow? Or is this one of those rare occasions that have been happening?

No snow here...but I'll behave myself this time.  After all, it's the Christmas season!  devil    Hope you all stay warm and weather out the storms.

Hi Karen,

Well, we've got ice on top of snow here in Central Illinois. It is 1 degree with a wind chill of -19. They are calling for high winds and wind chills of -25, so I'll be sitting in front of the fireplace tonight. We lost power last night and I bet we do again. I piled 4 blankets on my bed to keep warm and took turns with hubby getting up and putting logs on the fire.

I hope you get to feeling better and stay warm and pain-free. Also hope you have a nice Christmas with your family!

Sherrine, you are cracking me up :) lol It was so nice when I lived in New Orleans (except they just had a bout of ice not too long ago:) I was also younger so I used to skate all over the French Quarter around this time of year in shorts and tank top. . . Those were the days :)

Karen, we are have an Ice Christmas again this year in Missouri. . . It is 5 degrees with a -16 degree wind chill and boy it is cold. As each arctic front came down on us it flared up my ribs so much that I could have cried. When they stabilize is when I start feeling better :) Anyway, I wish it was not so icy because I'm missing my daily walks. I get on the walking machine but it is just not the same as fresh air and good ole Vitamin D sunshine :)

I hope everyone is keeping warm today. All of you with woodstoves are very lucky right now :)

Karen, I hate to hear about all your snow and being confined to an apartment.  I guess the best thing you can do is stay warm as possible and make the most of not having to get out in the cold.

 

I'm off from school for two weeks Christmas break.  I told my dh I didn't want to get out of the house for anything.

 

We don't have any snow here is Kentucky but it's cold as blue blazes. 

 

I'm sitting here with my fleece robe and flannel pjs. enjoying the Sunday afternoon.

Wow cold all over huh?  I have on my bed my sheets a quilted blanket a down comforter and a reg quilt and last night I got smart and turned my heating pad on high and set it first at the foot of my bed under the covers and then moved it to the part where my upper body goes,so got it nice and toasty before climbing in and if I get up to go potty I make sure to pull my covers back over the bed so its not cold when I get back in.  Its still snowing from last night but its more of a fine snow but coming down hard so we should be up to about 14 or more inches.  I will find out in a lil bit when I walk over to subway where Jay has been since early this morning.  He told all of his crew not to bother trying to come in because the roads are so bad and it isnt safe.  It takes me a bit to get geared up to go outside and when I am done getting bundled up I look like the lil brother off the Christmas story movie lol.  I am just not looking forward to how much my muscles will hurt from trying to walk through such high snow with my being so short.  I told Jay that he probably wont get any customers while there today so I am bringing over some cards so we can play poker like the last time we got a ton of snow.  We usually get some snow but its not until after the new year and its usually not over 6 inches at a time and we are supposed to get 18 on top of the 6 we already had.  Still just stressing about being able to see the rest of my family for x-mas eve.  My brother was so mad at his wife the other day for paying 120 dollars for a flocked xmas tree.  They had gone and looked at tree's and decided the flocked tree's like they usually get have gotten way too spendy so they went out and bought 3 big cans of flocking and were supposed to buy a reg noble fur but she went out shopping again and talked some guy down by a measly 10 bucks and bought that tree for 120 dollars and then when they tried bringing it in the house a bunch of the flocking came off all over the furniture and Randy so that didint help his mood.  Lol after seeing the l.e.d neon lights on our tree he loved them so much he went out and bought many boxes of them and lined out all of his icecicle lights on the outside of his house and those lights are not cheap.  Randy has even been on the local news a few times for his decorations for x-mas and halloween.  Well time to get ready for my walk take care and stay warm everyone.

Margie, we have been lucky in not losing power, parts of our town did. I think the good Lord knew I would go crazy with a house full and no power so he spared me. smilewinkgrin

 

It's up to 2 degrees now. I hope this isn't the way the whole winter is going to be. We have a mixture of sleet, snow and freezing rain in the forecast but since my main Christmas is over I'm not freaking out. Christmas Day is suppose to be sunny and 30.

 

Wonder if they sell battery powered electric blankets??? tongue

 

I pray all humans and animals have a safe shelter during this cold weather.
