Hi you guys,
I got these coping strategies from fibromyalgia network.
*keep a small circle of friends and family who respect and understand you. Anything else just adds stress to your life.
*Learn to enjoy your own company and do something for yourself each day.
*Focus on things that could improve the situation at hand.
*Seek out a doctor who is knowledgeable and willing to work with you.
*Allow yourself to slow down and say no. Avoid trying to "push through it."
*Ask for help. It is amazing how this can make a difference.
*Don't apologize for your illnes, and let go of anger.
*Create a supportive, comfortable environment that works best for you.
*Don't feel pressured to keep up with those around you.
*Get decent sleep and effective pain medications, and stop using any meds that are not working or seem to make matters worse.
*If you can, go to a counselor or professional to vent, for coping ideas, or to spill your guts, instead of venting to family members. Find a support group, or think about starting a small one yourself.
*Remember, you are the one most relponsible for your own health.
I hope that some of you find this useful.
Hugs, Karen
