Hi.
I have had problems with my vision shaking occasionally for probably going on 10 years now. It doesnt happen very frequently, but often enough. Only ever after a busy day, usually a long week at work (which I am unable t do now, I will explain). I will sit down, and it will begin with a slightly dizzy lightheaded feeling. Usually if I am reading something I will notice im having trouble following the text, as the words seem to skip from left to right. If I like up around the room, it continues and feels like the whole room is twitching from side to side with a slight twisting motion.
I also suffer from twitching of the eye lids regularly, again particularly when tired. Other occular problems are short sightedness, gritty feeling in eyes, teary eyes very often (and no, its not crying) and oddly, on eye exams for my short sightedness a couple of odd things have been picked up:
I am apparently a 'lazy blinker'. When I had contact lenses about
8-9 years ago, I was told I left a dry line accross the centre of my eye because when I blink, my eyes dont shut fully.
I have frequently freaked people out as when I sleep my eyes do not fully shut, leaving some of the white and iris visible to astonished onlookers.
On my last eye exam a year or so again, it was noticed my eyes do not focus in correctly, when following an object gradually getting closer to my face, I lose focus around 10 inches away. Again, a muscular issue I am told.
Often my left eye is slightly more
open than my right, giving my right eye a 'lazy' appearance.
Whether these are all related I am not certain, but I am begining to beleive they are (and I am sure most people suffer with one or two of these occasionally, on their own probably not a real concern. I have just been diagnosed as having ME/CFS. Over a period of a couple of years (since a period of very ill health) these problems have all been groing worse. Accompanied with brain fog, memory problems, exhaustion (mental and physical fatigue), bowl problems (IBS and suspected wheat and gluten intolerence), mouth ulcers, swollen glands, weakness, muscle twitching and aches.... the list is almost endless.
I have now gone for a gluten free diet, and am liasing with my employer to try and work just 24 hours a week. Hopefully this is not something you suffer with because it is pretty annoying at best and debilitating at worst. I am 25 and have had to all but stop my social life, with the hope of some level of recovery. As the actual cause and nature of the illness is still pretty unknown, treatment basically consists of not over doing it, eat well, sleep well, try to be healthy.....
There are however some interesting articles being published on the relation between retroviruses and CFS, particularly one known as XMRV.
Well thats my two pennies worth, just may be worth seeing a docter, if you suffer with any other odd health issues, it could all be related. And again if these are all things you possibly suffer with, other things such hyper/hypothyroid, ceoliacs disease, diabetes are all worth ruling out, as they CAN be tested for pretty conclusively.
Take care
