I started with taking Oxycontin when I was 19 (well went from hydro to percocet but the pancreas pain was too much and moved to oxycotin within a month) and it worked wonderfully. Started with the 10mgs every 8 hours then went to 20mgs every 8 hours. I stayed their for a few years til my psychitrist told me how taking antideppresants with narcotics was a no no cause antiD's can make the narcotics not work as well (something to do with how it's processed through the body) so he recommended the fentanyl patches. So I went to those but after a few I couldnt stand them cause they where more of a pain to use then pills, so I went to MS contin 100mgs 3 times a day. then when I lost my insurance for a few months the doctor gave me methadone to try cause they're dirt cheap and found them to be wonderful, for once I had way less pain then past 6 years on the other pain meds. But between that time I fell down cement stairs on my bottom, and had 2 very bad car accidents. But because the doctors always decided since I was already taking pain meds their was no reason to do any mri or anything on my back (4 doctors said this)so after several years my back has gotten so bad it's turned to arthiritis, so I got mad at the doctors so I made a choice to stop taking the pain meds all together, and that was horrible trying to taper, tried for a year and couldnt get anywhere, we always ended up raising the dose after a month or so cause the withdrawals where so horrible, even with clonidine and other meds to help lessen the withdrawals, but thats when I read about Suboxone that they give mostly to people who are addicts, but I am taking it to be tapered off of cause it's alot more easier to stop on it then regualuar pain meds and it has been a life saver. So you should know that if you ever decide to stop using or start having addiction issues theirs always hope and choices with other meds, so I wouldnt sweat over things like addiction or stopping right now.
