i am expecting a flare after all this!

yesterday was intense for me....

work was unusually crazy yesterday and caused our lunch breaks to be really off.... i usually take mine at 12:30 and by 1:30 i was just STARVING! i started feeling really funny and lightheaded.... but i also felt really nauseous. i finally took my lunch break at 2 and everyone at work was kinda worried about me... thinking maybe i just needed to eat. i ran home to get something and i realized my right kidney area was hurting. i couldnt even eat when i got home... i was just disgusted by all foods.

by the time i was almost back to work my right kidney area was hurting at about an 8 on a 1-10 scale and i knew what was happening, KIDNEY STONE!
i've had them before and i know how my body reacts.... i started crying! i get back to work and everyone is asking me how i am and i explain that i think i have a kidney stone.... they ask if i wanna leave but i said no. for me, my kidney stone pains come in waves... so in between i was drinking water like there was no tomorrow! i felt so bad because when the pain spiked up i would have to hang my head and let a tear slip down my face. i knew everyone was looking at me with no clue what to do or say! by the grace of God i passed the stone about an hour before i got off work! it was a relief but i was still really sore. my theory is that it was a small one and easily passed, but not without pain and discomfort! they are hereditary (my dad has them) and i've seen some that land him in the hospital and some that he's able to pass on his own. i am thankful yesterday's was the latter.

so i get home and my family orders pizza and i have some painkillers left over from my last kidney stone... i am just about to take one and settle into my bed when my mimi(what i call my grandma) calls to say that my grandfather can't stop shaking and she's worried. she wants to take him to the hospital! i quickly put the pills away and we all rush over to her house so we can help her get him to the car and off to the ER! the house is burning up hot and his hands were so cold to the touch( that scared me)... my dad walked him to the car and said he would drive, my mom and i followed in her car. as we were leaving the neighborhood a man let his dogs out of the yard to play and his pitch black cocker spaniel chased the car my dad was driving and hit the back tire.... we couldn't see what happened but we heard the dog crying! everyone was upset and we were heart broken that we couldn't stop.... i saw the dog go and find his owner and prayed that the dog would be taken care of....

finally we make it to the hospital and find out that my grandfather has a UTI, pneumonia, AND had a minor heart attack! it was so much to take in, in only one day. i am the kind of person who deals with things after they happen.... i can be so strong for everyone else....
but a few days later i have to breakdown and realize what i've been through...

thoughts and prayers are greatly needed right now.
for my family... for me.... for the puppy dog!

Oh honey, I am so sorry for the day you have had. Most certainly I will pray for all involved. You will probably have a fibro flare up for sure after this day. That's an awful lot of stress and adrenaline pumping through your veins at once.

I am a retired nurse and have seen the pain that people have to endure from kidney stones and kidney pain overall. I too have had a kidney stone myself and they are no fun, but mine wasn't so bad. God was good to me.

Please drink your water and take your meds like you are supposed to and let us know how grandfather is doing too. Poor poor man, he had a night of it too, didn't he??

Oh Sweetie, I thought I had bad days. I will definately praying for you. My heart goes out to you. I've had kidney stones. Well, I just wanted to know I am so sorry and you are in my hearfelt prayers. Denise(baloo)

Wow, you did have quite a day.  I've had between 20-30 kidneys stones since I was 15, so I definitely know what that is like.  I so glad it passed fairly quickly.

 

I hope your grandfather is doing okay, and if you do have a flare, slow down, relax, and try to take care of yourself.

I guess when it rains, it pours. I am so sorry that you had so much to endure. This had to be hard for you. Try to rest now, hopefully you wont go into a bad flare. I will keep you and yours inmy thoughts and prayers.

There are some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed. I hope you have been able to rest up this weekend after that. I have never had kidney stones but know people that have and I don't know how you worked with that kind of pain.

 

I hope your grandpa and the poor dog will be okay. I'm sure you all feel bad about the dog but the owner should not have had him off leash in the front yard.

Try to get some rest. I hope you don't wind up having a flare, that's the last thing you need right now.
Please let us know how you & your grandpa are doing.

thank you everyone! i've been really feeling the prayers and managed to not flare yet! its a miracle haha!
my grandpa is stable and we are at kind of a stand still until his regular heart doctor comes to see him tomorrow. i will keep everyone updated on what's going on! again, thanks so much.... the support means so much to me!

What a day you had and happy to hear you did not flare and grandpa is stable!

My father would get kidney stones so bad- he was only like 1 in 30 out of the whole U.S. that "mass" produced them. I watched that man endure so much pain on and off in his lifetime. I know it can be VERY painful! My oldest niece just got one about a month ago- the pain was so severe, her husband called an ambulance because they did not know what was happening! She has since passed the stone, but she said she would rather have a baby then go through that again.
