FM and other related health problems

Hello,
I am new to talking about FM. It is hard enough to live with and I guess I though talking about FM to other sufferers would make it more difficult. But I think I can now and I would love some input into my current situation.

I was diagnosed with FM 7 years ago but I continued to work until Jan, 2008. The pain and inability to remember how to do my job made it impossible to continue working.

It is difficult to know when I have something wrong, other than FM, due to the constant pain and fatigue. In August, 2008, I was diagnosed with a bulging disk, the pain was different and I had this condition for at least 4 to 6 weeks before I was sure somthing else was wrong. Now I can't walk very much and that was the only exercise I was able to do somewhat
consistantly.

My most recent health finding is that I am B12 deficient and for some unknown reason I am unable to take B12 supplements or shots due to some kind of reaction or overdose. My B12 level is below 200 and that can lead to all kinds of health issues. My Doctor has never had a patient that could not take B12. So if you have ever experienced this problem or know of someone that has I would love to hear from you.

I also suffer from other FM related conditions - IBS, anxiety, depression, tremeors, memory loss and i am very hyper-sensitive to most medications.

My current medications are: Premarin 0.9, Crestor 5mg, Vitamin E 200 units, Ibuprofen(my stomach hate's that), acid reducers as needed, Miralax, Valium 5mg, flexeril 5mg

And welcome to the fibro family! Some people aren't comfortable talking about their fibromyalgia with family and/or friends but at some point we NEED to talk! and be understood. This is that place. The people here truly understand what you are going through. They're not going to push you away or get tired of hearing how you hurt because we do too. We need compassion from someone who just "gets it". Glad you have joined us!

which is a delite !! I was in a few other support sites and so far this is the best i have found.

vitamin problem but I do understand your fibro for sure . Hang in there and may you have a

Hmmmm, I've never heard of the B vitamin problem. But I do have an idea... do you have a good health food store near by?? Folks that work at health food places usually know a lot about vitamins and absorption, maybe you need to take it in a different form or need another vitamin or mineral to help with a way to absorb it.

I'd like to welcome you to our fibro-family!! This is an AWESOME place to share with those that care.. and believe me WE DO CARE!!! Everyone here is so sweet and understanding. I've learned so much about fibromyalgia from this group. I've also learned that I'm not crazy or lazy or somekind of weenie. As a matter of fact I've learned to step back and learn to smell the roses (even though they make me sneeze..lol) and that life with fibro isn't as bad as I orginally thought.

We laugh and cry together and we have eachother for support!!

There's nothing too weird to ask or answer. There's no judgment here. Just Friend that are better than family, they care in a non-judgmental way.

Hi Peanutt! I'm new here too. It's a great group. It really helps to talk to other people who understand your situation.

I can relate to your statement about not knowing when something else is wrong. Lord only knows how long I had gastroparesis before we figured it out. I blamed all the pain, bloat and discomfort on fibro, IBS, and just getting older. It took a completely new and different sypmtom (swallowing problems) to get me to the doc.

Gastroparesis means "paralyzed stomach". Your stomach is a muscle that is supposed to contract when you eat to grind up the food and push it through to the small intestine, usually within a few hours after a meal. In Gastroparesis, that does not happen, and the food just sits in the stomach indefinitely.

Typical symptoms include bloated feeling after meals, feeling full after just a few bites of food, upper abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting of undigested food, reflux/heartburn, and eventually weight loss and malnutrition.

I wish there was a gastroparesis forum on HealingWell. This fibro forum has been so helpful and I would love to have the same connection with other GP folks.
