Hello My name is Kathy I have had FM for the last 16 plus years married with 4 adult children and will be 48 next birthday. I hate this thing and am sick of not being a normal person. I was taking a lot of drugs for this thing then my Doctor put me on a new drug that worked wonders no painkillers sleeping at night so the Doctor took me off almost everything. NOW I have crashed and need to see her for more medications and injections. I live in Queensland Australia where we have little or no support for FM. But or health care is a lot easier to get after reading posts from other people. I am lucky my doctor will see me if I WALK IN OFF THE STREET but it is still getting there we live in a rural area so it takes time to get there then getting a park not far from her office. Sleep what is it I have read about peole who sleep I can go four days and not sleep then I can not sleep because I am in so much pain. I can not remember what I  going to say I have a total blank why? Ithink the lack of sleep has me depressed at least my husband who is my carer is away for a few hours he is great don't get me wrong I would be lost without him. But he is not well now low iron count and they can not find a reason why,

but he is a noisy person and drives me crazy he does woodworking displays here at a local place in other words he tells people how they used to use the tools. So that gives him something to do every now and then. Back to me I hate the weather we are just about to go into winter and it is wet and cold here today and it is only going to get worse. We do not get snow just frost but that is enough for me I had a friend who moved to this area to get away from the sow but the heat in summer was too much so she moved back to the snow. Where was I the weather I react to the rain and putting the cold on top of that is just the end. Sorry to ramble on the Fibrfog is taking over. I just feel rotten even spelling is hard today and I am a writer no writing for me today. Looking forward to reading all the post on this site

Hi Kathy, and welcome! I've just been in the forum a few weeks. Everyone here is wonderful. You will enjoy the friendship and humor and learn a lot about living with fibro. I'm glad you came!

Hi, Kathy, and welcome!  I'm sorry that you are having such a rough time right now.  The cold weather does me in, too.  Try hot showers and maybe make yourself a Bed Buddy.  You take a tube sock, fill it 2/3's full of raw rice and tie a knot on the end of it.  You pop this in the microwave and it will give off moist heat due to the moisture in the rice.

 

Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to good info about fibromyalgia.  There is a link to some good stretching exercises that really do help.  You do want to keep moving.  If you don't, you'll be stiff as a board, but I'm sure you've found that out already!

 

I'm so glad you found us and joined in.  You have come to a good place with people that love to help one another.  The bonus is we really do care about each other!  So, read back post and ask questions.  We are here to help you.  Hope to hear more from you soon.

Hi Kathy. I've no words of wisdom - am just saying hello - but I hear what you're saying about winter. I'm in regional Aus too, and the lsat few weeks have been *brutally* bleak. Hang in there,

Welcome aboard Kathy! 

 

I hate what your going through, but it's so interesting to read about people in different places.

 

This is a great place to learn more about fibro and share when you need to vent or just have friends to talk to about anything bothering you.

 

It is so comforting to know that other people are going through the same symptoms that you are.

 

Before I found out that I had Fibro, I thought I was loosing my mind.  I wish I had found this place earlier.  Now I know it's fibrofog.

 

Keep reading and posting.  I look forward to hearing from you again.

Hi Kathy and welcome. We are in spring here with the weather changing every five minutes and it plays havoc on the body. The winter was actually easier on my body than this.

 

You really need to talk to the doc about the sleeping problem, sleep is so crucial for us. I didn't get much sleep Sat night and I was like a zombie all day Sun. I take meds to help me sleep, nothing that knocks me out but just relaxes me. I know I can't think clearly without proper sleep and it takes a toll on the body.

Hi Kathy and Welcome!

Our winter was brutal here in Minnesota (U.S.) and the pain was off the charts for me. Now spring is here and it is worse because the weather is fluctuating every 5 min. and it is affecting every part of my body! sad   Can't win, can we??

I'm just riding everything out, and taking this one day at a time or I would go bonkers-

Hope your Dr. can get you comfortable again now that your winter is starting- let us know how you are doing and it was nice to meet you!
