Connected Tissue Disease

Hey! Great question, although I was surprised that your GI diagnosed you with MCTD [mixed connective tissue disorder]. That was my first Dx, too- from a rheumatologist. Three months later I was seen by a new rheumy [we moved] and was told that MCTD did't even exist! MCTD is generally understood to be an auto immune issue, and the debate is still on regarding whether FM is a member of the auto immune category. Keep in mind that many professionals believe that the connective tissue in the body- the fascia- is a central focus of FM research, so there is much yet to be learned. Do some reading on myofascial pain and it may help some puzzle pieces come together.
