Hi everyone. I just need someone to talk to. I am really stressed right now about our bills. Our lights and gas are going to be shut off soon if we don't find a way to pay off the disconnect fee. I don't know what we are going to do. Please, if you guys could just pray that my husband gets this job he applied for, I would really appreciate it. We are REALLY struggling right now, and it is just really stressing me out. I just don't know what to do.

There might be some government assistance available to pay your utility bills. Contact the utility company for referrals. Also if you go to several churches for help, they will more than likely give you vouchers for food, utilities and assistance with clothing and baby supplies.

HI Sassy,

Stress from bills can really effect your fibromyalgia. So try not to stress too much. I know, easier said than done. I think you have gotten some good advice above. You should look into these things. They can help you until your husband gets a paycheck.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Have you contacted the electric company and the gas company and let them know you are having these problems?  You are definitely not alone and I don't think they would turn off electric and gas to all who are now unemployed and struggling.  There has to be a back-up of some kind. 

 

I will be praying that your husband gets a good job soon.

You should be able to make payment arrangements with your utility companies..if not, you could try calling your local department of family services (or whatever they call it where you are) or local churches. Oh-and definitely try the Salvation Army. They really helped my mom out a LOT when she was struggling so bad after her house burned down and before she was approved for disability.

I know how stressful money problems can be-money and bills are a BIG source of stress for me, but please do whatever you can do to relax. You definitely don't need a flare on top of everything else!!

Good luck finding help-I will be praying for you and for your hubby to get that job!

Thank you all for your replies and prayers. My husband is going to go to the trustee's office tomorrow and talk with them. He is going to see about making some payment arrangements, and his mom, I think, is going to help out a little, as long as Bobby pays her back. So, we are going to look into a lot of different places, like the United Way, I think. I am not sure what all is available here. I know there are resources out there to help, but it is still stressful to have to rely on them to help. I feel like a failure because I can't provide for my baby correctly. And I know my husband feels the same way, if not worse since he is the "man of the house". I really appreciate all of you. Thank you so much for your support, your thoughts, and your prayers. They really do mean the world to me.

Hey sassy...like everyone else who has responded there is help out there for those who are struggling right now.  First of all I believe they cannot turn off power to anyone with a baby...at least where I live.  We have a free food bank at our local Catholic Charities and the electric company has a program called HEAP to help low income or the unemployed. In this wonderful booming economy(yeah, right) there are many people out there right now that can't make ends meet.  Search all possible resources...surely you would qualify for food stamps with no income and I know as much as you don't want to go that route, that is why your hubby has paid taxes all these years and now YOU need help.  I am praying he finds a job soon and hang in there.

Well, the trustee's office was of no help. They have to have all this different stuff, including recepits (sp?) that we usually throw away. I don't know what we are going to do. We are on food stamps and medicaid, which is helpful, but not when it comes to the bills. I just don't know what to do. I feel really stressed, and that is sending my pain and fatigue through the roof. I told my husband that maybe I should go out and look for a job, but he doesn't want me to because he knows that I would be sleeping a lot before and after work. So, he knows the toll it would take on me to work because he has seen it before when I had my last job, and he doesn't want to see me go through that. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers, so much.
