Hi have Fibromyalgia and Im still working but it is getting tough, I have a hobby of building 16,17,and 18 century ships out of wood from kits (kind of like the Mayflower) they take along time to build but it keeps my mind off the pain, I would like to here from other people with FM and ask what is your hobby.

I have fm too and newish to the site. I find it hard to work also and while i have been off for the last six weeks i am returning next tuesday. I changed from working 3x8hr shifts to 4x6hr shifts so i'm hoping that'll help.
My favourite hobby is cycling, x country and downhill, it's really rough and i've had to tone it down in the last few months but when i'm not flared up you'll find me in the mountains of ireland, scotland and wales.
I've rediscovered reading and also love swimming, in pools, i tried scuba diving and nearly died of hypothermia.
I couln't do an intricate hobby like yours, i'm way to clumsy, i still havent even painted the doors of our new house and we moved in last december.

Hi, again!  Well, one of my hobbies is doing genealogy.  I've just spent most of the afternoon working on that.  I also love gardening, traveling, and I'm going to try growing bonsai in the near future. 

 

Yes, I agree that focusing on something besides our pain makes it fade some in the background.  Having a good sense of humor and a positive attitude helps a lot too.

Hi Painter,

Welcome home!  I think it will be refreshing to hear how many of us cope.  You will soon realize, you are not alone.

I do not work.  I haven't worked since 98.  I am always amazed that some people still work with fibro, its not something I could do.  More power to you.

I live in MN, and I love gardening, reading and travel.  We have a short season for gardening and I do all that I can, oftentimes more.  I admire the intricate work you do with boats, I would be all thumbs.

Jump on in anytime.  Someone is usually home.
