Well, I survived my vacation traveling! Each travel day (leaving and coming back) took 13-15 hours. coming home yesterday involved three flights, two taxis, one bus/coach, and one rental car return. Exhausting! I tried to make each journey as comfortable as possible. Though I didn't bring a cane :) I did take advantage of the little cart-thing they run you to your gate with, on the trip down. On the trip back I couldn't find one so had to walk for miles and miles! That was the hardest part, in an uncomfortable climate. But I decided to pay $15 to check my suitcase even though it was a rolling one small enough to bring aboard; and I put as little as possible into my carryon. (Still too much1) But I'm happy to report that, although my knees are totally swollen today, as well as my fingers and ankles, lots of advance planning made it easier. And my week off was great!
I also brought a terrific sunburn back with me too. I forgot that one of my meds makes me sun-sensitive so although I wore 60SPF with zinc oxide I still burned to a crisp on my back. Though I felt sensitive to sun and heat, the humidity made me feel wonderful. Also, the ocean. It made me think seriously of changing where I live back to where I grew up.
