Thank God for new Dr.

I went to a new Dr yesterday and I wanted to hug him by the time I left. H spent an hr and a half with me, talking for the most part though when he checked my trigger points I did levitate when he got to my back. For the life of him he couldn't figure out why my dr had kept me on Celexa and Despiramine when it was stated by the previous dr that they weren't doing anything for months. The tramadol and diclofenac had been leftovers of my husbands when they changed his meds. Anyway, he took me off the Celexa and Despiramine and put me on Savella and Buspar, neither is doing much yet aside from making me stagger like a drunk from the dizziness but I'm hopeful.
I have a question though, how long does it take for them to fully work? I've read some stuff online that says it takes 6 wks to work, pls someone tell me this isn't true LOL Also if you do take it or have, how much did it help? The online testimonials say it was a 'complete turn around' but yeah

First of all, great news about the dr! He sounds like someone who will be in your corner, that is a big deal.

I have no experience w/ any of the meds you stated, but I had a visit w/ my pcp the other day and she was talking about how long some meds take to reach their level. She said antibiotics are meant to kick in right away so you should start to feel 'better' by the next day, but a lot of other meds, like ones to treat FMS or other things are meant to be taken for 4 - 6 wks b/f you start to notice the difference. I personally hate when meds make me feel like a 'drunken sailor'. Hopefully, the new meds he gave you will start to kick in soon and you will begin to feel better. Good luck!

Doesn't it make you feel good when you find a doc that will sit and listen to you that long. My first trip to my rheumy I was with him forever and he made me feel like I was the only patient he had for the day. My GP will listen to me for as long as it takes too but then we get side tracked catching up with what is going on in our families.

I was on buspar for quite awhile many years ago and it did nothing for my anxiety but that doesn't mean it won't work for you. I couldn't find how long savella takes to work. I have not really looked into it much cause it can cause high BP and mine is high enough as it is. I don't think the new ADs take as long as like the amitriptyline I'm on.
