I always complain about this 'hoarding' thing the hubby has...can't part with anything. But I seriously am getting worried about it because it is one of the things his father did after he got Alzheimers. My hubby's grandmother had this horrible disease also. When my husbands father finally had to go into a nursing home, we opened a room he had locked up for ten years and wouldn't allow any of us to go into it. When we broke the lock, the stuff started pouring out. He had books and old cool whip containers and suitcases full of Noxema, of all things. I have been with my husband for more than twenty years and he has always been like this, so I have pushed the thought of Alzheimers aside. But I still worry about it. He IS very organized and the stuff he keeps is not always in my face...the basement and garage...now that's another story. But when the magazines start piling up on the dining room table...that's when they go to the curb. It breaks his heart when I ask him to throw things out. I guess as long as there is still room in the basement for all his treasures, I won't complain about it anymore. If it gives him comfort...so be it. I just can't function when it starts to fill up my space!
