Hi Karkal and welcome to the fibro family!!
I'm sorry to hear you had so much trouble with your surgery. Sounds like it totally changed your life and now you are living with chronic pain. Sure doesn't seem fair, does it?
Have you been given a diagnosis of fibromyalgia? You do have a lot of pain in areas that are typical to fibro folks. But getting a good diagnosis of your pain problems is a must! It could be many different things that cause the same pain and you do need to find out what it is.
Your question about medications is a reasonable one. When people are living with chronic pain/fibromyalgia relief is what it's all about. You will get a huge variety of answers to your question since what works for one person may not for another. Some people use Tylenol, others Malic acid and Magnesium, yet some other people use strong narcotic medications. There seem to be different levels of pain that each of us has, yet in my opinion pain is what each person says it is. Hopefully your doctors feel the same way and treat you with respect.
Personally I have been taking oxycodone for several years. I use a long acting one plus a short acting one to help keep the pain under control. No, it never takes it all away, but it most often keeps it down to a manageable level.
I hope this helps and again...welcome!
