A few weeks ago I posted and asked if anyone had experience taking a liquid collagen supplement, and how did it work for you. After checking with my doctor to make sure it was safe, a few weeks ago I started taking a liquid collagen supplement, collagen hydrolysate, at bedtime. It is supposed to help promote sleep and cell work takes place during deep sleep; collagen coats the nerve ends and helps cell regeneration. I wondered if fibromites had collagen shortage, making the pain feel more intense, so I wanted to check it out. I'm continuing to take my regular nighttime meds as well - Cymbalta, gabapentin, and Tramadol (at a very low dose so as not to evoke the dizziness that happened to me last weeek).
I wanted to let you know that I am definitely getting more restful sleep - at least six hours STRAIGHT every night when I take it, more when I don't have to get up for work, and I wake feeling rested. I still have stiffness in the morning, and some pain, but I think it is helping me. I may be simply coming out of this terrible flare that started in January, and it might be bunk, but I am starting to feel better after beginning to take it. For me, it was worth checking out... I'll be curious, someday to see if collagen shortage plays an important part in fibro.
