Hi, Linda, and welcome! I'm so sorry to hear about you and your sister. Many on this forum, including me, have lived a full and enjoyable life with fibro and we can give you some pointers to help you.
Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...the first thread on the forum. You will get a ton in information about fibromyalgia there. That's a good place to start.
Be sure to keep moving. If you sit or lay too much, you will be stiff as a board and your pain will be worse. There are some gentle stretching exercises in Fibro 101 that really do work. Also, find a gentle exercise you can do. Walking is my main exercise. When I started walking, I only made it about four houses down and needed to turn around. But, I kept trying, instead of giving up, and now I walk my dog a mile every morning before I start my day. It has helped me a lot, made me stronger, and I've lost weight, too. So give it a try. Water exercises are also very good if you have access to a pool.
I use ibuprofen with food, extra strength Tylenol, Malic Acid/Magnesium supplements, and Vitamin D3 for my pain and fatigue. There are links in the Fibro 101 thread about the Malic Acid and Vitamin D therapies. Also, you do need to pace yourself. You can't do things in the same time frame as you did before fibro. It all will get done but not as quickly.
Don't hesitate to ask questions. We are here to help you. I'm so glad you found us and joined in. I hope to hear more from you soon.
