Jethro Jaws is my Shark Cordless sweeper.  He had a swift and painless passing...just stopped working in the middle of a dog hair emergency.  It was his battery pack...they only last two years.  No problem...as Jethro has a sister who is nameless.  Charged her up...OMG.  She has passed on also.  Two fibro 'must have's' gone in one day!  I loved Jethro as he only weighed about a pound and was great on hardwood floors where the dog hair lingers in huge clumps...I have even picked up gravel and nails with him.  Furthermore, when his handle broke, I duct taped it back together, and he kept on...kept on.

I went to Bed Bath and Beyond to replace him...the latest models are NOT Jethro.  New and improved with turbo settings and all kinds of features that add weight and confusion to a fibromite.  Before I bought it, I decided to go to K-Mart and see if they had a more simplistic model.  They did...but even it had a handle that bends and twists when you push a button.  I bought it anyway and don't like it.  It won't swivel.

I hate 'new and improved'.  My 'new and improved' moist heating pad died after six months.

I would like to open a 'fibromite' appliance store.  How would THAT fly...LOL!

Donna, if you open a fibromite appliance store (which I think is a great idea), I'm going to open a fibromite clothing store right next door.

I hope you will carry the old version of the swiffer duster and swiffer sweeper handles. The "new and improved" duster handle kills my wrist, and the new sweeper handle was made for a 6 1/2 foot tall man.

In my clothing store, everything will be designed for comfort but won't look like pajamas, lol. There will be no tags, everything will have elastic waistbands and will stretch (but will still look very chic, lol), and all clothing will be made from the softest, smoothest fabric. No scratchy seams and no scratchy lace or appliques. I will have a NASA engineer design comfy fibromite bras, underwear, and panty hose. I will carry beautiful, stylish shoes with arch supports and rubber soles. :)

Oh well, we can dream.....

I bought my Shark sweeper at Big Lots...and it's the older model.  I bought it last year.  They are great on the hard floors.  Mine is used for my tile.  But, did you know you aren't supposed to keep it plugged into the battery charger all of the time?  That's why they conk out on you.  I read that when I bought my second one last year.  You run it until it REALLY needs to be charged and then charge it for at least five hours.

 

I love my Libmen mop with a 45 degree bend in the handle.  I'm short and this is so easy to mop with and it doesn't put strain on the back or arms.  I got that at Walmart and I haven't seen any of them in a while.  I hope it isn't "new and improved"!

Sherrine..yes I know you are supposed to run it down completely before plugging it in.  I guess the battery packs just don't last very long...an average of two years.  I bought my first one in Big Lots, and I loved it.  But now...they just keep adding features that use up so much battery power they conk out before you are done sweeping.  My first one would run for days before I had to charge it.  Jethro was my second one and he was one of the earlier models too.  Oh..how I will miss him...his model has been discontinued!

I didn't know that I needed to let it run down with my first Shark.  Guess I didn't read the directions and it bit the dust in about six months.  The same thing happened with my Sonicare toothbrush.  I DID let it run down before recharging and you aren't supposed to do that.  You have to charge it after each use.  I wish they would come up with the same methods for these things.  I can't remember my name half the time.  How am I suposed to remember if you leave it on the charger or not.  shakehead

    I was at Christmas Tree Shoppe today and they had the Snuggies real cheap. You may want to check

there for a replacement for Jethro. I was busy trying to get the last of my X-mas shopping done.

NM...The Christmas Tree Shop has Snuggies?  Good deal!  I replaced Jethro...found a 'fibromite' simple, uncomplicated one at K-Mart.  Still...he is not like my old Jethro.  I don't care if the handle bends in five different directions.  Oh well...

Every time something dies that I love and I don't like the new model.. I go to E-bay! Has worked most of the time finding the same item. If I don't find it there.. I go to my local thrift stores.... I like to call them jackpot cities! I always seem to find just what I am looking for and a really great price. :0)
