I wonder if anyone of you have tried or know anything about
having Physical Therapy for fibro. My doctor is referring me for it and I don't know how this can help.
Any comments?
Thanks.

I went to physical therapy for a few months a year or so ago, and it was a good experience but I don't think it helped me much. My physical therapist talked to me on my first visit and we decided that he would try to build up a basic level of muscular strength in the hope that it would relieve my pain.
To a certain point the exercises made me stronger, but it was not long at all before the same exercises I did every day became too hard. My abilities varied from visit to visit and in the end I elected to stop going because it was causing me more muscular pain than benefit.
Now I go to a gentle yoga class once a week, which I find to be very refreshing and helpful. I have to take a nap as soon as I get home, though, because it completely exhausts me.
I would suggest that you try the therapy, because I think that it probably could help some people even though it wasn't for me. Don't assume that it won't work, because then it probably won't. There's a good chance that your PT will set up a program that helps you with your daily functioning.
Good luck!

I am doing a graded exercise programme, organised by a physiotherapist, which seems to be going well (it's early stages yet).
I also do hydrotherapy, which I enjoy, but think is too hard for me right now, as I tend to have to sleep for days afterwards. It really does help with the pain, though.

Jazzmynn, I have gone through physical therapy several times for other issues. Some
of the exercises I have learned there I continue to do and believe they are beneficial for
fibro. I like working with the resistance bands, it helps with stiffness. I also learned some
stretches that I do before getting out of bed in the morning.
I would definately give the physical therapy a try. You'll be working with a trained therapist
who will be able to teach you proper technique.
Hope it works well for you!
