Chest Pain with Fibro?

eyes  does anybody else get fibro intheir chest muscles? I don't hear of it to much and thats where mine is the worst! If so what do you do for it?

Would appreciate replies!

Yes.  It's called costochondritis.  There is a link all about it in the Fibro 101 thread.  My doctor has me taking ibuprofen with food and that helps.  But be sure to talk to your doctor and make sure this is what is going on.  I know I did.

Hi Snowangel123,

As Sherrine said, it's probably costochondritis. I have had costo with my fibro......NO FUN! The most recent bout lasted about 3 weeks and it hurt to breathe! I had to use Vicodin for the pain because I couldn't even turn over in bed...it hurt too much.

Hi Snowangel, I'm not sure I have welcomed you, so welcome. I have found that we can have pain anywhere on or in our bodies we have muscles, even the scalp.

 

I had my heart checked out when I was going through all the testing for fibro and just the first part of June this year after passing out one night. When you start getting up there in age, like some of us are, it is best to be safe than sorry and have chest pain checked.

Thank you for te responses, it is nice to hear from people who understand!

I have had two Drs tell me it was costochondritus, sometimes it is so painful I can't stand it and I ave it most everyday!

Pain meds elp but you know how that goes. Sometimes applying alot of pressure helps.

I would appreciate more input!

I have costo with my fibro. I also have have a lot of pain in my ribcage that affects me every day. I take Vicodin on the real bad days. It only takes the edge off of my pain. Hope you can find something that helps.

I also have costo with my fibro. The first time it happened (about 5 months ago) I went to the ER because I was so scared! They tested my heart, retested it, and finally admitted me into the hospital for the night. They kept giving me Nitro, and that scared me even worse! I kept asking if my tests were showing that I was having heart trouble, and they said no, they were just being safe. The next morning, my PCP came and told me it was probably a pulled muscle in my chest therefore sending me home with pain meds. This was before I was diagnosed with Fibro. When my PCP finally diagnosed me, she looked back on that incident and chalked it up to Costo. I have had many bouts with it since then! You are not alone in this!

I get chest pain in one specific spot when my esophogus/stomach gets irritated from reflux. Its funny (not!) how we can get referred pain from various other places.
