Hi Rhonda, I was diagnosed about
a year ago but think I have had fibro for at least 2-3yrs. I've had migraines all my life, and have definitely noticed an increase in the number, duration and causes of migraines now with the fibro. Previously mine were all perfume- and food/nitrates triggered. Now they are triggered by lights, driving at night, going to the movies, any kind of strong smell, and stress. I also have now twice had an ocular migraine, extreme vertigo and dizziness leading to nausea, that both times landed me in the ER because I thought something was wrong with my head or I was having a stroke. I've been taking the same meds since February (gabapentin, Cymbalta, tramadol, flexeril) except for Tramadol, which I started in August, so nothing was really new. I still don't know what triggered them except for maybe my neck going into spasm.
Not sure how I'm going to treat them if they plan on being a regular thing! (I hope not- they are really scary) When I get a "regular" migraine a take one or two Maxalt under the tongue, but they didn't help with the ocular migraine.
