John, I'm on social security disability. I did it myself and it went through the first time...with no lawyers. BUT, I had several doctors attest to my disabilities. Do you have any other illnesses besides fibromyalgia? Those do help in the final decision. Fibromyalgia should be enough but you know how the government works.
If I were you, I'd sit down with all the doctors you go to, explain what you are going through as far as your pain and ability to do things and that you want to apply, again, for SSD. If you have a good rapport with your doctor, see if they think you are eligible for SSD. If they agree, I'm sure something would be put in your records. It was my doctor that suggested that I apply for SSD! I have never thought of myself as disabled but I couldn't get any medical insurance company to cover me after my husband died. If your symptoms have changed and worsened since you filled out the original paperwork, ask for new paperwork. Be sure to answer the paperwork totally honestly. I know how badly you need this but if you "fudge" on the paperwork they will notice it immediately and you will have lost your appeal again. They see a lot of that, I'm sure, so be sure to answer honestly. Mind you, I'm not suggesting you haven't been honest, but I'm giving the best advice I can to help you. Have the doctors on your side and be sure to have them send the SSA your health records when they ask for them. Be timely about seeing the doctors the SSA sends you to see. This is what I did and I did receive my permanant disability. I do have a major hearing problem to go along with the fibro, Crohn's, and diabetes, so I'm sure that played into their decision big time. I hope this helps you.
