question about pain meds & tender spots

My doctor has given me vicoden for pain, which I like because it's strong enough to kill the muscle aches yet doesn't leave me on the couch drooling. Problem I'm having is when the pill is wearing off I feel like I'm getting a headache. When I'm awake I'm usually taking another pill right about then anyway but it's horrible when I wake up in the AM. The headaches are right up there with a migraine. Will my body adjust & the headaches stop? or should I ask for something else?

And the tender spots, should they hurt all the time or just be sore to the touch? I ask because I didn't think I had fibro because I didn't have the sore spots (I thought they'd ache all the time) but when I pushed around where they were on a diagram I found that I had four spots that were tender to the touch. It feels similar to a very bad bruise, but I don't have any.

I still haven't been diagnosed with fibro. Thought I had it about a year ago when I signed up.......then I figured (hoped) that I did not. Anyway, had some tests done & the Rheumatoid factor came back positive & my doctor said there was an auto immune process going on in my body. On the 29th I see a Rheumatologist, will know for sure then. Maybe? The way my doctor was talking he's thinking lupus.

Hello Tina, Getting a dx takes some time. I'm glad your rheumy is being thorough and
doing bloodwork to determine what is going on. It is possible to have an autoimmune disease
along with fibro. Fibromyalgia has some of the same symptoms as the connective tissue
diseases , it is always wise to rule things out.

If you haven't already, check out fibro 101, the second thread on page one. You will find
some very helpful info there.

We all have are own experiance with fibro. My pain is widespread and feels bone crushing,
sometimes with needle - stick pain. I also get migrating burning pain. Fatigue is a big factor
and so is fibro fog. Has your rheumy done a tenderpoint exam?

I take a muscle relaxer for fibro flares and take Savella, a SNRI daily. I also have an
autoimmune disease MCTD (Scleroderma, Lupus & RA) and I take Methotrexate for that.

Headaches are a side effect of Vicoden. I was on it for back related issues, had surgery
and not on it anymore. I didn't like how I felt on it.
